One of the highlights of Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 5 was Julius Reinberg ambushing Will Serfort and his team at the Enchanted Woods. The Ice mage's feats surprised many fans because before that, he was in a different zone with his teammates.
However, Julius was seen alone when he ambushed Will with a devastating ice spell. This begs the question of how the Ice mage pulled off a stunning performance to overtake Will Serfort's team and ambush the young mage.
Anime-only fans may like to know that Julius performed the miraculous act with a secret spell called Ars Weiss, which lets the caster create living clones of themselves. The spell was originally created by Elfaria, one of the Magia Vanders when she was only two years old.

Exploring Julius's secret spell that he used to ambush Will Serfort in Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 5
Before we begin, it's important to note how Julius Reinberg ambushed Will Serfort in Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 5. After clearing the Badlands zone, Will, Colette, and Sion entered the Enchanted Woods, the final hurdle of the Grand Magic Festival's Crown Attack contest.
Will's team had to clear the obstacles in the forest and then race to the stadium to win the competition. On the other hand, Julius Reinberg was at a different location with his teammates and had yet to reach the forest. As a result, it was practically impossible for him to overtake Will in the race in Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 5.
So, how did Julius ambush Will Serfort in Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 5? The secret to the Ice mage's feats lies in a spell called the Ars Weiss, which lets Julius create living ice clones of himself. These clones can perform the same Ice magic as that of the original caster.
Notably, Arts Weiss is one of the 12 original spells invented by Elfaria Albis Serfort. The Magia Vander's original set of spells was named El Glace Frosse to honor her immense contributions to the world of magic.
Moreover, she was advanced to being a Magia Vander for creating such unique magic spells. That said, Art Weiss was a spell she learned at the age of two.
Undoubtedly, Julius's achievement of emulating Magia Vander's unique spell on his own was incredible. However, Fujino Omori's manga revealed that he had yet to perfect the magic.
During his fight against Will Serfort in the Grand Magic Festival, Julius could only conjure eight living clones, whereas Elfaria used to conjure ten at the age of just two. Moreover, it was revealed that Julius could control the clones with the help of his teammates' amplification magic.
When Julius learned from Will that Elfaria had mastered Ars Weiss in infancy, he felt humiliated. Nevertheless, Julius's secret magic spell allowed him to gain an advantage over others, save for Will Serfort.
He demonstrated Ars Weiss to create his living clones and send them to every playing area to defeat his foes. As such, he truly lived up to his reputation as one of the brightest students from the Rigarden Magic Academy.
