Hunter x Hunter chapter 402 will be released in Japan on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 12 am JST. The manga will be released in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. But fans around the world can read the issue on Viz Media’s official website, Shueisha’s MANGAPlus service, or the Shonen Jump+ app.

In the last chapter, which was pretty dialogue-heavy, readers saw some interesting revelations that suggest the Succession War is favored towards someone. The mastermind behind all this happens to be Beyond Netero. The manga’s return after all this time with such a twist thus has fans looking forward to the next installment

Hunter x Hunter chapter 402 will be released shortly after the release of chapter 401. This is exciting for fans given the long breaks they have endured due to mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi’s health. The upcoming chapter is set to be released as per the following schedule:

Hunter x Hunter chapter 401 recap

The previous chapter began on the tenth day, with Longhi, Prince Tubeppa's guard, entering room 1014. Instead of taking the Divination test, she revealed of her own accord that she is a Nen user with an ability called Transparent Words-Moonlight Act.

This means she can create contracts that could either grant or restrict abilities to those who sign up. However, for the contracts to be effective, the participants needed to fully understand the terms and willingly sign them.

Longhi then suggested an alliance between Kurapika and Prince Tubeppa. However, before considering the proposal, Kurapika threatened her with a gun, demanding to know her true intentions. For Longhi's ability to function, she had to be completely honest, so she disclosed a startling secret: she was Beyond Netero's biological daughter.

Longhi then revealed that Beyond had meticulously planned and placed his children to be groomed to be Royal Guards for the Princes. These children, including Longhi, were cursed at birth to assassinate a Prince upon their death.

Longhi believed that one of Beyond's children was a Prince, and Beyond's goal was to ensure that this child emerged victorious in the Succession War. The rule for entering the contest was that one had to be a legitimate child of King Nasubi’s wives.

Longhi then elaborated that the contract between Tubeppa, Queen Oito, and Prince Woble would establish a peace treaty, forbidding attacks between the parties involved. She added a clause that Kurapika would help find Beyond's offspring before Tubeppa retires from the Succession War or only two successors remain. In return, he would receive a reward.

At the end of the chapter, Beyond Netero is seen being restrained while Kanzai guards him. Beyond requested that someone he wished to speak to be brought to him.

In Hunter x Hunter chapter 402, the Succession War arc will continue with Kurapika and Longhi joining forces to discover the identity of Beyond Netero's child. This task will be particularly difficult because the child is a Prince, making their mission to eliminate them, as Longhi wishes, quite challenging.

But for readers, the identity of this Prince might be revealed in Hunter x Hunter chapter 402, as they could be the person Beyond called for a meeting. With Mangaka Togashi releasing another chapter so soon, fans can look forward to more revelations that could rapidly advance the plot and add new twists to the story.
