Hunter x Hunter chapter 410: Morena explains her ability to Borksen while Benjamin sets out to find the other princes

Hunter x Hunter chapter 410, titled Negotiation: Part 4, was released on Monday, December 9, 2024, in Japan. It goes into the details behind Borksen's decision to align with the Heil-Ly Family, and it turns out Morena's ability had something to do with it. Readers also see that Benjamin has grown desperate as his life has been threatened.

In the previous chapter, readers saw Morena and Borksen’s Negotiation game come to an end. Borksen had the opportunity to invalidate the game, but she chose the Yes card and decided to join the Heil-Ly Family.

In Hunter x Hunter chapter 410, Borksen insists that the Yes card is her final choice, though internally she recognizes something is amiss. Morena, however, realizes that she has cheated and is disappointed. Borksen had secretly marked the Return card while pretending to verify if Morena’s shuffler had replaced her cards. Later, under the guise of celebrating her victory, Borksen destroyed the evidence of her misdeed.

However, Morena reveals that because the Negotiation game and the cards are part of her ability, any instance of cheating automatically activates her Manipulation ability. This forces the player into a situation where they can only choose between two options: Yes or No.

Even though Borksen had an even chance of choosing either, she chose Yes out of her own volition. This is the risk Borksen took by cheating and messing up what was supposed to be a fair game, according to Morena. But Morena tells Borksen that as long as she stays alive and on her side, the Heil-Ly Family will leave her and her loved ones alone.

Next, in Hunter x Hunter chapter 410, Morena also explains that her ability, Contagion, works like a game app installed directly into her subordinates. As the administrator, she keeps an eye on all the player data, including their levels, points, location, and status. This app cannot be removed unless the game ends or either Morena or Borksen dies.

Morena says that once Borksen meets the three requirements to officially join the Heil-Ly Family, she will be free to act as she sees fit. While infighting and betrayal are not off-limits, they are subject to what Morena deems excessive.

Thereafter, in Hunter x Hunter chapter 410, it is explained that killing a civilian will raises Borksen's level by one, killing a Nen user raises it by ten, and killing a prince raises her level by fifty. Once she reaches level 21, she will awaken her own Nen ability. And at level 100, she will be able to put together her own team.

Ultimately, it is up to Borksen to decide whether to kill people or return to her former allies. However, Morena warns that the Heil-Ly Family's mission of mass killings means that if they see her as dispensable, they may turn on her.

Borksen figures that if another Specialist shows up, she would be discarded immediately. On top of that, Morena can read her own thoughts and feelings because her ability is built into her. She starts to see that she might need to gain power to stand up to the Heil-Ly Family, which would require killing.

Still, Borksen says she wants to go back to her allies. Morena reminds her that the Heil-Ly Family is also her ally now. Borksen responds by saying she wants to learn more about them first and asks Morena to be her guide.

Benjamin is dying

In Hunter x Hunter chapter 410, the Royal Army conducts an inspection in Tier 3. The captain at the scene is asked to look into a door that is linked to the disappearance of several soldiers and a corporal. Further investigation shows that the door leads to the Heil-Ly Family's hideout, but the room is empty.

The captain quickly updates Prince Benjamin, who is more focused on locating Zhang Lei, Luzurus, and the lower-ranking princes. It seems that Zhang Lei has made his way to Tier 2, perhaps looking for protection from the Ministry of Justice or to regroup with his Mafia. Benjamin orders his second squad to go after him.

On the inside, Benjamin speculates that his infection will make him comatose in ten hours and dead in twelve. That gives him little time to eliminate all the princes.

It is revealed in Hunter x Hunter chapter 410 that Benjamin’s main goal is to secure the throne for his illegitimate child by becoming the official successor and invoking Emergency Law Article 1, which is about sustaining the royal family in a crisis.

Benjamin meets with Botobai, Mizaistom, and Kaiser and lays out his plan to consolidate all three branches of government through military force. Mizaistom wants to know what the justification is for the Special Martial Law and wants to see the King's authorization letter.

Benjamin explains that Tserriednich and Halkenburg teamed up with a military collaborator to launch a bioterrorism attack, along with a few others who have already been arrested. Some of the others involved are traveling with the princes.

Mizaistom figures that Benjamin is planning to use the princes in Tier 1 as hostages to try to unite the branches of the government. Indeed, Benjamin says that releasing or hospitalizing infected individuals is not an option without the merger.

At this point, Botobai notices that Benjamin seems unwell, but the prince refuses to acknowledge it. Kaiser realizes that Benjamin is infected, like Halkenburg, and has at most 24 hours left. Kaiser considers his own survival, hoping to endure another day as it could offer a chance for a better outcome.

Final thoughts

Hunter x Hunter chapter 410 ends with a disappointing announcement: the release dates for future chapters are uncertain. This is particularly frustrating, given the recent influx of crucial information.

The story has taken a serious turn with martial law being declared, and Halkenburg, likely the culprit, has infected Benjamin while inhabiting Balsamilco's body. Meanwhile, a potential confrontation between Chrollo, Kurapika, and Hisoka is on the horizon.

While most characters strive to protect, Morena and the Heil-Ly family aim to bring about destruction. Now, she will be joined by Borksen.
