I'm Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!? episode 1 begins with Tsukasa Atsumi, an everyday salaryman, walking home from work one night. Suddenly, he's startled by a loud noise, and looking up, he sees steel beams falling from the top of a construction site. Just as he thinks this might be the end for him, a kunoichi saves him.

This kunoichi, named Shizuri, explains to Tsukasa that because he is from a warrior bloodline, he is being haunted by ghosts from another world called Yoma. She also tells him that, as his bloodline awakens, the Yoma will start attacking even more earnestly, stating that she can protect him from them.

Tsukasa agrees to employ her, thinking it will cost him everything he has. However, he soon discovers that the agreement with Shizuri involves him providing for her as she lives with him as an otaku NEET, spending her time gaming.
