My Hero Academia started its serialization in 2014 and recently ended its final arc in 2024. With only five chapters remaining, the final chapter will be released on August 5. Fans are expressing mixed emotions about the series' conclusion, especially given Deku's recent achievements.
Some feel it's too soon for the story to end and desire an arc focused on Deku's role as the top hero. Despite its flaws, the series has been well-received. Additionally, there is speculation about other popular Shonen Jump series nearing their conclusions, raising concerns about the magazine's future lineup.

My Hero Academia is 5 chapters away from its end
My Hero Academia recently concluded its final arc with the defeat of All For One and Deku losing his quirk. Although the manga entered its epilogue, many fans expected it to continue for a few more months to address the remaining plot points. This expectation was further fueled by the introduction of a mysterious new figure in chapter 425 of the manga.
This mysterious figure was later speculated to be Shigaraki, who somehow survived, leading fans to believe that the story would explore this character in a mini-arc before concluding. However, the recent announcement that the series will end its serialization on August 5 came as a surprise to many fans.
Fan reaction to the announcement
A few fans expressed that they are not ready for the story to end, despite Deku becoming the top hero and reaching the end goal of his journey. The manga series started its serialization in 2014 and quickly exploded in popularity due to its anime adaptation. Although the overall reception of the series is still divided, it remains one of the most influential new-generation shonen stories.
Another fan took this opportunity to mention how almost every influential and fan-favorite manga like My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and One Piece are about to end soon. This might actually lead to a problem since these three series have been Shonen Jump's most popular.
"MHA ending soon, JJK Ending soon and One piece being in it's final stretch. Jump is gonna lose some pillars man," one fan said.
One fan mentioned how this will be the last time fans will see the cast of this series. Although it had its own flaws and drawbacks, it was still a really fun series to read and served as a huge gateway for people to get into anime.
"Even tho it sucks that this the last time we will see this cast, i will still admit that i love My hero academia, despite it's flaws it still is a fun manga that i will forever miss," another fan said.
Another fan mentioned how it is too early for the series to end and suggested that an arc focusing solely on Deku as the top hero is needed. Although All For One has been defeated, there should still be a significant number of minor villains lurking around. Seeing Izuku in his All Might era might actually be a good direction for the story.
"Dawg mha deserved a time skip, deku deserved his all might era. Can’t believe it’s ending 😭," one fan wrote.
"I thought he want to write more about their life in the academia?" another wrote.
Another fan mentioned how most of the fandom thought that the main cast's lives were going to be explored more in the epilogue. A few other fans mentioned how this was accomplished with the spin-offs of the series and how Horikoshi might be wanting to end the series according to his vision.
My Hero Academia chapter 426 will continue the epilogue and actually reveal the fates and the last destination in many of the main cast's journey. Chapter 426 will be released on June 30, 2024 and will be avaialble for reading on Shueisha's MANGAPlus platform.
