Sarada Uchiha is one of the most controversial characters of Boruto, solely due to her unexplored potential since the Omnipotence Act. Not only has she not utilized her Mangekyou Sharingan, but her growth since the time skip also amounted to nothing as indicated by her performance against Hidari. However, the fandom is still adamant about entitling her as the deuteragonist of the series.
Even if she proved her potential as the deuteragonist of the series, she would never reach her full potential which is evident from various hints in the series, the biggest ones being her naive nature and inability to get stronger. In the past, Sarada had an urge to get stronger but it slowly died over time, especially in the manga series.

Why Sarada might never match Boruto as a shinobi
Sarada Uchiha is one of the main characters from the Boruto franchise who is the daughter of Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. Being the daughter of two of the strongest shinobis from the Hidden Leaf Village, Sarada was destined for greatness from her birth.
During the majority of her childhood, she utilized her monster strength which she inherited from her mother, and some time afterwards, she awakened her Sharingan. Moreover, in her childhood, she was the brightest shinobi who showed potential to learn and grow, making her one of the strongest new buds of the Hidden Leaf Village.
However, everything changed after Eida arrived at the Hidden Leaf Village, which was followed by the Omnipotence Incident, during which Sarada awakened her Mangekyou Sharingan. Boruto Two Blue Vortex saw the weakest start for Sarada as she could have spent the entire time skip worrying about the protagonist instead of getting stronger.
This was evident from her input against Code and when the Shinju raided the Hidden Leaf Village and she went against Hidari. Although her lukewarm performance against Code was given (because the antagonist caught her off guard), her embarrassing display against Hidari was disappointing.
Not only was she outclassed by the God Tree in every way possible, the protagonist had to rush towards her so that he could protect her before Hidari consumed her. All of this is surprising too because Sarada has the Mangekyou Sharingan, one of the strongest dojutsu techniques, but she fails to utilize it.
Moreover, she is also the daughter of Sasuke Uchiha, who was about to change the entire world after the Fourth Great Ninja War, So, all of these reasons combined indicate that Sarada's potential as a shinobi might never surpass the portagonist's.
Final thoughts
Although this topic has been discussed numerous times on the internet, Ikemoto fails to give Sarada a proper spotlight which could ensure the fandom her bright future.
Although the Boruto Naruto Next Generation gave her hope through filler episodes, the canon material continuously indicates otherwise, leading to the fandom making Sarada a disappointment, while some still hope for her redemption. The only way to gauge her growth would be to see her truly shine on the battlefield someday.
