The Demon Slayer series has done a phenomenal job of world-building, and credit goes to the author for creating a specific set of rules that govern combat in the series. It has been established that demons are far superior in comparison to humans when it comes to physical abilities.
This is why the demon hunters rely on Breathing Styles, which enhance their physical abilities, making it a level playing field for them when they’re pitted against demons. This raises an interesting discussion - is Hinokami Kagura the Strongest Breathing Style? Yes, Hinokami Kagura is technically the strongest Breathing Style in the anime and manga series.

Demon Slayer: Is Hinokami Kagura the strongest Breathing Style?
As mentioned earlier, Hinokami Kagura is the strongest Breathing Style in the anime and manga series. However, there are nuances to this statement. One of the things that we need to understand is the connection between Hinokami Kagura and the Sun Breathing technique.
Hinokami Kagura was a mere imitation of the original Sun Breathing, which was passed down for generations in the form of a dance. However, the end result was the same as Sun Breathing, which Tanjiro Kamado used against Muzan and other Upper Moon demons in the series.
Hinokami Kagura Breathing Style explained
As stated earlier, Hinokami Kagura initially started out as an imitation of the Sun Breathing technique, which was passed down by Sumiyoshi and his successors. This was a dance that stayed in the Kamado family. However, it had plenty of wasted movements.
But, as each generation acquired the dance, they filtered it and weeded out the unnecessary movement, making the dance more precise. This resulted in Tanjiro performing the Hinokami Kagura, which eventually became the Sun Breathing Technique. This is why the protagonist was integral to the downfall of Muzan and other demons who managed to terrorize the country for centuries on end.
Why is Hinokami Kagura so powerful?
There are a couple of reasons that could explain why Hinokami Kagura is so powerful. Now that it has been established that the aforementioned Breathing Style is Sun Breathing, there are a few points that will help fans understand its power.
One of the most important facts about this Breathing Style is that it was developed specifically for Muzan. He has a total of 12 vital organs, which is also why the Breathing Style has 12 forms. The final form, which is the thirteenth form, involves performing all 12 forms in quick succession.
It was also the first-ever Breathing Style created by humans, which aided in defeating demons. Every other Breathing Style that came after that is an off-shoot of the Sun Breathing Technique.
This was the same Breathing Style created and used by Yoriichi Tsukiguni, who single-handedly instilled fear in Muzan. The sheer damage it deals is also another reason why this is the strongest Breathing Style in the series.
