Dragon Ball fans like to power scale and compare their favorite characters, so the "Is Omega Shenron stronger than Jiren?" question shouldn't be too surprising. After all, Omega Shenron was the final villain of the GT anime, and Jiren, as of this writing, was the final antagonist in the Super anime, so that is why fans tend to compare these two characters.

Furthermore, both of these characters do have a bit of complexity in the Dragon Ball franchises when it comes to their morality. Jiren was fighting in the Tournament of Power to save his universe, so he wasn't a truly evil person.

On the other hand, Omega Shenron was the result of the amount of selfish wishes people made, in a way being a direct result of humanity's actions. When comparing these two characters, Jiren is stronger than Omega Shenron in Dragon Ball.

Who is Omega Shenron in Dragon Ball?

Omega Shenron was introduced in the final arc of GT and also happens to be the final boss of that anime. He is one of the seven evil dragons that were created because of the main cast's constant selfish wishes through Shenron, with Omega Shenron absorbing the rest to reach his final form.

When compared to the aforementioned character in the introduction, who was the final boss of the Tournament of Power arc in the Super anime, it has to be said that Jiren is stronger than Omega Shenron. Jiren has proven to be stronger than even the God of Destruction in his universe and demonstrated to be a universe-level threat, with the GT final boss being usually classified as only galaxy-level.

Is Omega Shenron a villain?

Omega Shenron wanted to destroy the universe during the events of GT and is worth noting that he was made out of negativity. That is something that defined the arc as all of these dragons were evil because of all of the selfish wishes that people made throughout the years in the franchise.

This was shown during the events of the final battle as he had no problem savagely beating the likes of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and more without ever doubting. For all intents and purposes, he is a creature of pure evil and that was his role within the story.

The truth is that Omega Shenron isn't canon and the same goes for the entirety of GT as a story. This anime was entirely conceptualized and executed by Toei Animation, with author Akira Toriyama only having a small input in elements such as some character designs but nothing major.

It is worth pointing out that while the character isn't canon, a lot of fans of the series have praised the concept of the evil dragons as the final enemies of the story, considering it a fitting way to conclude the franchise. In that regard, it would be interesting to see if Omega Shenron does become canon at some point, especially considering the recent example with Broly.
