One of the most exciting aspects of Tower of God season 2 was the introduction of the character Urek Mazino, who is an Irregular like the protagonist Bam. While Urek’s role in the second season’s events is relatively minor, he does prove to be a significant supporting character, even if he isn’t the series’ focus as often as others.
However, fans who switch to and catch up in the original manhwa often ask “is Urek Mazino good or bad,” due to his unique role and place in the series. Urek Mazino is considered good in Tower of God, both in the sense that he is allied with protagonist Bam and against some of the series’ truly antagonistic forces and characters.

Urek’s role in Tower of God
When Urek first appears during the events of Tower of God season 2, he is an antagonistic force against Bam, known then as Jue Viole Grace. Specifically, he was stationed inside the Zygaena where Bam, Wangnan Ja, and their team were taking the 21st Floor test. He scrapped with Bam and the others briefly, but left shortly after finding a Baby Zgygaena, which was his original goal.
This likewise doesn’t impede their passing the test, suggesting that he is at least not a direct antagonist to Bam. However, he doesn’t reappear until Bam and co reach the 43rd Floor, also known as the Floor of Death. Here, Urek plays a key role in defeating Hell Joe, which leads to Bam getting the Red Thryssa and its powers. Urek also asks Bam to join his organization, Wolhaiksong, after defeating Hell Joe.
While Wolhaiksong isn’t anti-government with respect to the Jahad Empire, their goals are somewhat rebellious in wanting to find a way outside of the tower. This isn’t confirmed, but based on what fans know of Jahad and his ruling preferences, it’s likely that he would be opposed to allowing free access outside of the tower. As a result, Wolhaiksong can be considered antagonistic to Jahad and the Ten Great Families, who are antagonistic to Bam.
Wolhaiksong is also opposed to FUG and has no problem starting a fight with them, as seen through Urek’s interaction with FUG Slayer No. 1, Grace Mirchea Luslec. While both groups do have some members who intersect, they’re generally opposed to each other, with Bam and FUG also being enemies by this point. With all of this in mind, Urek can be considered a character on the side of good in Tower of God.
Urek’s goals, explained
While that answers the question of “is Urek Mazino good or bad in Tower of God,” it doesn’t quite explain what the motivation behind Urek’s actions is. As touched upon, Wolhaiksong is a group made up of members who are looking for a way out of the Tower. This includes Urek, who is one of the group’s two co-founders, alongside his best friend Baek Ryun.
Urek specifically cites that he wants to escape the Tower to explore the vast world that exists beyond its walls. He calls it “a billion times wider and freer” than the Tower, calling everything else that one could want trivial in the face of pursuing such a world. This appears to be Urek’s primary motivation behind all of his actions in the Tower, including recruiting Bam (who is also an Irregular) to join Wolhaiksong.
In summation
The answer to the question of “is Urek Mazino good or bad in Tower of God” is that he’s on the side of good, despite prioritizing his own goals of escaping the Tower at every turn. While he has helped Bam and the other central characters thus far, it’s entirely possible that he’d oppose them if they got in his way of escaping the Tower.
