Ishura season 1 takes place in a fantasy world where the demon lord is defeated by a mysterious hero in a distant land. With no sign of terror present among the masses, self-proclaimed demon lords emerge from different worlds and gather in the New Principality of Lithia. However, the leader of Aureatia Kingdom is set on destabilizing the government of Lithia.
The first half of the series was focused on introducing the chess pieces from the sides of Lithia and Aureatia, including Alus-The Star Runner, Dakai-The Magpie, Nihilo-The Vortical Stampede, Higuare-The Pelagic, Yuno-The Distant Talon, and many others. These characters commenced war against each other in the first season.
The major deaths in the season include: Taren (the self-proclaimed demon lord and the ruler of Lithia) by Kuze's angel Nastique, Dakai (a former bandit) by Soujirou, Nihilo (the war weapon) by Dakai and Soujirou, and Higuare (the mandrake gladiator) by Kia.
Ishura season 1 ended with the New Principality of Lithia wounded to its roots as its majority of soldiers died in the war against Mage City and Aureatia Kingdom. However, the final episode teased an Imperial Competition (a competition to find the hero who defeated the True Demon King) through a conversation between Alus and Hidow, and the introduction of Queen Sephite.

However, the teaser video for the sequel teased the appearance of a new character named 'Kuuro the Cautious,' who is also listed as the series' main protagonist.
