Since the start of the Olympics 2024, Death Note's Light Yagami has come under the limelight due to a picture making the rounds on the internet. The picture shows Japan's football coach writing something down on a notepad. The coach is named Light Yagami.
Death Note is one of the most iconic anime worldwide, and it has become the gateway for many non-anime fans to start watching anime. Therefore, many people worldwide knew about its protagonist, Light Yagami. Hence, they were left shocked to see that a man with the same name was Japan's football coach.
Death Note's Light Yagami in Olympics leaves fans worried for other teams
Since the start of the Olympics 2024, a picture of a Japanese football coach has been making the rounds on the internet. Surprisingly, the picture labeled the coach's name as Death Note's infamous protagonist, Light Yagami.
To make matters worse, similar to the anime, where the protagonist could be seen writing inside the Death Note, the Light Yagami in the Olympics could also be seen noting something down within a notepad.
However, in reality, the picture has been edited to show that Japan's football coach is named Hajime Moriyasu. Moreover, the picture itself is from 2022, most likely from the FIFA World Cup, which is evident from the graphics that look similar to that of the Qatar World Cup.
How fans reacted to Light Yagami in Olympics 2024
Fans were surprised to see Light Yagami in the Olympics 2024 as they were certain that his presence meant the end of the run for other teams in the competition. They were ecstatic that the picture captured the Japanese football coach's noting down something. This was very reminiscent of Light Yagami's actions in the anime.
"Dies of a heart attack exactly one second short of the world record," one fan said.
"This is it L. My perfect victory," another said.
Other fans started joking about how, similar to the anime, they could soon start observing the athletes suffering from heart attacks. One of them even joked about how such an incident could see an athlete fall short of one second from attaining a new world record.
Another fan spoke on behalf of Light Yagami, similar to the anime, and claimed his perfect victory against the series' other main character, L Lawliet.
"japan will be ruling the world soon," another fan said.
"No community note, he just killed the entire Italian team," other fan said.
With that, fans were certain that, following the Olympics, Japan would start ruling the world by taking down every superpower.
Meanwhile, another Death Note fan noticed that the Light Yagami post had not received a Community Note, which effectively "proved" that the picture wasn't edited but real. Hence, they joked about how it was over for the Italian football team and the rest of the competition.
