Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 236 was released on September 25, 2023, and the Gege Akutami killed Gojo Satoru in this chapter. But the drafts for the chapter reveal otherwise as the rough sketch of the sorcerer was blackened, hitting that the one-eye theory could indeed be true.

The chapter also saw Hajime Kashimo enter the battlefield as the jujutsu sorcerers were drowned in despair after their strongest card against the King of Curses was sliced into two pieces.

The drafts for this chapter where the Honored One's body was chopped showed one of his eyes blackened, hinting that the sorcerer could have sacrificed one of his eyes using a Binding Vow. So, the Honored One's return could still be a possibility.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Why could Gege Akutami be thinking of the return of Gojo Satoru?

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263 was titled Go South and started with a strange scenario where Gojo Satoru was reunited with Geto Suguru. The Honored One expressed his distaste over how he lost against the King of Curses. He was then reunited with Nanami and Haibara.

As time passed, the Honored One thought he wished he was not a dream. In reality, he had actually passed on to the afterlife as Sukuna countered his Hollow Purple with a world-cutting dismantle, which chopped the cursed sorcerer's body into two pieces.

However, the drafts for this chapter showed otherwise as they showcased his right eye blackened, which hinted towards the left-eye theory of Jujutsu Kaisen. From the start of the series, he first reveals his left eye when the Honored One starts fighting.

After he was killed by Toji Fushigoro, the Honored One returned, and right when he stood before Toji, only his left eye was visible. This could be an indication that, through a bidding vow, the Honored One sacrificed his right eye to return to life before he was hit with Sukuna's dismantle.

This was similar to the fight against Toji Fushigoro as the Honored One started focusing on his reverse cursed technique instead of killing Toji, as he knew he could not win.

Moreover, the same can be said about some other sorcerers like Nanami, who lost his left eye (due to which he died), and Maki, who lost her right eye after her awakening (hinting about her awakened potential). So, the Honored One could still have a chance of return.

If, by any chance, the Honored One returns, it would be the biggest pothole of the series. In chapter 261, Okkotsu Yuta returned to the battlefield inside the body of the Honored One by using Kenjaku's cursed technique. As evident from the antagonist's cursed technique, a soul can only enter a body once it has no other soul inside.

So, Gojo should be dead in any scenario. But if he returns, this would affect the plotline of the series. If he returns, Geto's return could also be one of the possibilities. So, there is no telling what Gege Akutami could be planning regarding the return of the Honored One.
