Chapter 239 recap
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 239 began with a girl who appeared to be Takako Uro frantically flying through Iwate Prefecture's Lako Gosho colony. She questioned what Kenjaku was up to, and whether or not the pacifistic rules meant to minimize Culling Game casualties affected his plans. As she asked aloud what Kenjaku wanted, he had a gaseous Cursed Spirit ensnare her head and begin choking her, while he equated the Culling Game players to being as meaningless as spice and water.
He then made the Cursed Spirit solid and flicked it with his finger, seemingly attacking the girl with a vibration-based attack. Kenjaku then began explaining to her how he knows where all the players are when Iori Hazenoki appeared and confirmed that she was long dead. Kenjaku suggested they be friends, but Hazenoki quickly shot the idea down. Instead of fighting in response, Kenjaku watched the livestream of Gojo versus Sukuna, seeing the former's death.
Hazenoki lamented Sukuna's victory since it meant he'd get no backup, beginning to fight Kenjaku shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, Hazenoki was cornered before long and was killed shortly thereafter. Kenjaku then ran into Fumihiko Takaba, immediately attacking him. However, Takaba survived the attack, causing Kenjaku to claim that his attack worked but had no effect.
The issue ended with the two preparing to fight one another.
What to expect (speculative)
Given how the previous installment ended, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 240 is all but guaranteed to begin with a continued focus on Takaba and Kenjaku. More likely than not, the two of them will officially begin fighting in the coming chapter, with Kenjaku taking a defensive approach until he can figure out what Takaba’s Cursed Technique is.
As for how Takaba will approach their fight in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 240, this is dependent on whether or not he has grown more knowledgeable of his Cursed Technique. If the Tokyo Jujutsu High group trained him to utilize it at will, then he may go all out from the start and try to quickly end Kenjaku. If he's still unsure of how it works, however, then he will most likely lean into his usual comedic way of fighting and simply "get lucky" with the damage he does.
