Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 240 was expected to continue Kenjaku’s unprecedented battle against Takaba, and the spoilers that released today did not disappoint. The official translation is set to be released on Monday, October 29, 2023, at 12 a.m. JST in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump Issue 48.
In the previous chapter, Kenjaku was seen disposing of two Culling Game players, including Iori Hazenoki. He revealed that he could track any Culling Game player using his Cursed Spirits and the markers he put on the Cursed objects that awakened them. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 240 spoilers and raw scans reveal Takaba's Cursed Technique as Kenjaku gets the upper hand
According to the spoilers, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 240 is titled “Foolish Survivor, Survive.”
The chapter begins with a flashback, when Angel told Yuta, Hakari, and others that they should attack Kenjaku before Gojo and Sukuna’s battle ended. Even if they did win against Sukuna, everything would be pointless if Kenjaku managed to merge the people of Japan with Tengen.
They realized that if they lost against Sukuna, they wouldn’t have the time to fight against Kenjaku’s goons. Even if they won against Sukuna, they would be too depleted to fight Kenjaku. Kusakabe wanted to send Maki to catch Kenjaku off guard but also did not want to split their attacking power. Angel suggested sending Takaba to fight Kenjaku.
Naturally, everyone was skeptical. Angel said that what she was about to say could not be repeated, even to Takaba himself. She then revealed Takaba’s Cursed technique, but Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 240 switched to the ongoing fight before the name could be heard. On the battlefield, Takaba remained unaffected by the centipede Curses that Kenjaku threw his way.
He then somehow put Kenjaku in a bandana and a glass, clearly meant to be a gag, and Kenjaku realized that Takaba’s Cursed Technique might be something that helps him materialize his imagination. His thousands of years’ worth of accumulated information would not work against Takaba, but Kenjaku reminded the comedian that every technique has a weak point.
Takaba and Kenjaku then engaged in a battle of words, which primarily detailed how the former won a comedy competition in his past. After learning that Kenjaku wants to force human evolution because it is interesting to him, Takaba came to the bizarre conclusion that Kenjaku needed to laugh.
When he tried to make Kenjaku laugh, the Curse started to criticize his jokes. Kenjaku figured out that the key to Takaba’s technique was his confidence in himself, which became diminished by criticism. This allowed Kenjaku to land a hit on Takaba. Enraged, Takaba posited a game of “you lose when you Laugh.”
He made a funny face at Kenjaku, who retaliated by removing his forehead and showing his true self. This made Takaba laugh, which allowed Kenjaku to land a more severe hit on the comedian. Takaba landed near Hazenoki’s dead body and lost his confidence completely. He started to question why he chose to be a comedian as Kenjaku advanced towards him.
The manga graced the cover of Shonen Jump this week. The Cover featured Yuji and Sukuna, which was reflective of the Jump Giga cover of Gojo and Kenjaku. A color spread inside the magazine featured Yuji, Yuta, Maki, and Hakari. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 240 states the manga won’t be on break next week.
