Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 finally revealed the much-awaited return of Satoru Gojo. Although it was Yuta possessing Gojo's body using Kenjaku's Cursed Technique, it was also revealed that Gojo was consulted for this entire plan.
Throughout the chapter, it is revealed that the entire plan of Yuta using Kenjaku's Cursed Technique to possess Gojo's body in case of his defeat was formulated well before the actual Gojo vs. Sukuna battle. Although Yuta was the only one who had any semblance of opposition towards this plan, Gojo himself stated that he didn't care about the status of his body in the event of his death.
Many fans have accepted that Gojo's lack of care in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 is a natural response to the situation due to his perception of defeat as death. However, many have taken this opportunity to point out Gojo's character theme and the inherent loneliness that came with being the strongest as the potential causes of his lack of care.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261: Fighting Sukuna was Gojo's last meaningful objective
Gojo has been a very overconfident and borderline rude individual ever since his debut. Although being the literal strongest being in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe plays a huge role in that, his difficulty in finding genuine joy and exhilaration can also be attributed as one of the reasons.
Although the pre-awakened Gojo had semblances of joy, this was accompanied by overconfidence and a minor disregard for others around him. During the Hidden Inventory arc, Gojo was accompanied by Suguru Geto. However, they grew apart due to Geto wanting to pursue his cleansing plan and Gojo awakening to a new level of power.
Gojo's awakening was framed as a positive event, but it also played a part in alienating Gojo as an individual from the rest of the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. Gojo's entire existence has always been more like a natural phenomenon. His birth shifted the balance between Jujutsu sorcerers and cursed spirits, which in turn made cursed spirits stronger.
Gojo's awakening elevated him to an entirely new plane of being, where virtually nothing in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe could pose a challenge to him. Gojo challenging Sukuna was an eventual plot point that was teased in the very beginnings of the story, but Gojo's character theme of being "the strongest" and being lonely eventually got addressed through Sukuna.
Gojo's status as the strongest alienated him and gave him a form of boredom or emptiness that was only filled by the all-out fight he had with Sukuna. Although the story interprets the Gojo vs. Sukuna fight as a purely benevolent attempt from Gojo, it must have also been one of Gojo's most selfish desires to face Sukuna, even if it meant dying.
Gojo's carelessness must have also been due to his overwhelming boredom and loneliness that always accompanied him due to being Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer of the modern age. Gojo's lack of care towards his corpse in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 must have been due to him seeing his fight with Sukuna as his last ever fight and one of the only meaningful things in his life.
Final Thoughts
In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261, Yuta, who is currently possessing Gojo's body, has started his fight against Sukuna. Yuta's copied Cursed Technique and Kenjaku's Cursed Technique overlap with Gojo's Infinity, creating an unpredictable situation. No one knows the outcome yet.
The last time something remotely similar occurred was during the Shibuya Incident arc, where Toji Fushiguro ended up being reincarnated. Therefore, there is still a possibility for Gojo to make his return, adding an element of suspense and hope to the ongoing battle.
