Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 was expected by many to see the demise of Ryomen Sukuna following the appearance of Hana Kurusu on the battlefield and her activation of Jacob’s Ladder. Officially released earlier this weekend, things unfortunately didn’t go as fans planned, with Sukuna quickly escaping the Jacob’s Ladder thanks to its weakened efficacy by the nature of Hana losing an arm.

However, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 saw the fight against Sukuna continue nonetheless, with an unfortunate development occurring, which seemingly set the battle in the King of Curses’ favor. Yet, the issue’s end, while not providing much information, seemingly left fans with a glimmer of hope for Yuji Itadori and co’s victory via a new ability the protagonist uses.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 finally sees Yuji unleash his Domain Expansion against Sukuna

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264: Checkmate…?

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 opens with a focus on Hana Kurusu, Ryomen Sukuna, Yuji Itadori, and Aoi Todo, followed by Sukuna punching the ground beneath him to send debris flying in the air. He then jumps from each piece of debris to the next, ascending the Jacob’s Ladder to reach Hana. Sukuna also points out that this Jacob’s Ladder will affect Todo and Yuji as well given its nature, meaning that he can reach Angel and Hana without interference by ascending vertically.

Angel then tells Hana to fall back, but it’s already too late, as Sukuna is now behind them. Sukuna points out that Angel and Hana’s coexistence in the latter’s body means they’re incredibly frail, pointing out that their losing an arm is impacting their Cursed Technique’s power as proof. He then promises to end Angel’s life before he’s torn from Megumi Fushiguro's body, preparing to attack her as he says so.

However, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 suddenly sees Todo appear, eating the punch from Sukuna for Hana, which turns out to be a Black Flash. Sukuna acknowledges Todo here, calling him a true jujutsu sorcerer to his core.

Todo is seen smiling, as is Sukuna, before being blown back with Hana from the force of the impact. This knocks both of them out, with Sukuna deciding to focus on Yuji before fully killing Hana and Angel.

At that moment, Yuji appears behind Sukuna, having chased after him within Jacob’s Ladder despite the risks. Yuji lands a punch on Sukuna before grabbing him by his feet and flinging him through a nearby building, rushing towards him after and using Dismantle to take out the ground beneath him. However, Sukuna’s arms regrow at that moment, catching Yuji off guard and letting Sukuna land a major hit.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 sees the narrator explain that unleashing yet another Black Flash allowed Sukuna to regain his Reverse Cursed Technique at last. Sukuna then thinks to himself that he doesn’t need to be daring like Satoru Gojo was, as all he needs to do is wait for his Cursed Technique to recover. The two continue brawling as he says this, with Yuji constantly trying to land his Dismantles on Sukuna to attack his and Megumi’s soul boundary.

Sukuna likewise acknowledges that while this is the right play since such a Cursed Technique is lethal to an incarnated type like himself, it’s meaningless if it doesn’t land. The two continue brawling as he thinks this, with Sukuna brandishing a confident and cocky smile. However, he’s suddenly bothered by something as made evident by a close-up of his eyes.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264: Domain Expansion

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 then starts a flashback to Gojo versus Jogo, where Yuji first learned about Domain Expansion. Gojo explains that while Domain Expansions expend tons of Cursed Energy, they have their benefits, such as giving the person whose Domain is activated a stat boost.

He then adds that Cursed Techniques imbued within a Domain Expansion are guaranteed to hit, as Yuji makes his hand sign and activates his own Domain Expansion. The narrator explains that through switch training with Atsuya Kusakabe, Yuji was able to learn the fundamentals of Barrier Techniques, thus allowing him to craft his own Domain Expansion.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 sees Sukuna suddenly revert into his “Yujikuna” form here, his injuries healed as he’s sitting in a train station. The issue ends with Yuji, whose injuries from Shinjuku are also healed, approaching a confused Sukuna with a smile. Yuji then says, “Let’s go,” to his enemy while seemingly offering a fist bump.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264: In summation

Without a doubt, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 is one of the most exciting installments in the Shinjuku arc thus far, finally confirming that Yuji does indeed have a Domain Expansion. There’s also tons of symbolism behind what fans have seen of Yuji’s Domain Expansion thus far, most of which suggests that this will indeed be the end of Sukuna.

The issue also does a great job of crafting tension and suspense on the way to Yuji activating his Domain Expansion, truly making it feel like all is lost up until that point. While it is possible that Sukuna could survive whatever Yuji’s Domain is, fans will have to wait and see in the coming weeks and releases to know for sure.
