Jujutsu Kaisen characters frequently meet with what are right and wrong results from their own actions. The story creates a balance between justice and fate that brings about satisfying yet sad endings for the characters.

For certain figures, their conclusion or triumph feels appropriate as they gain either redemption or retribution. However, some other Jujutsu Kaisen characters go through terrible experiences in the story without deserving it. This makes fans wonder about the justice in how these characters are treated.

Many Jujutsu Kaisen characters like Nobara Kugisaki or Kento Nanami were treated well within the story but suffered tragedies only because of the mangaka's decisions. While their fates were unfair, they weren't necessarily unfairly treated by other characters or the situations in the story. Therefore, this list doesn't include them.

Mahito and four other Jujutsu Kaisen characters who got what they deserved

1) Haruta Shigemo

Haruta Shigemo was a cursed user, accompanied by Uraume and Kenjaku. He appeared for the first time in the Sister School Exchange Event. His cruelty is clear in how he casually kills both friends and foes, relishing the disorder that comes along with it. Yet, his overconfidence and inadequate ability result in his defeat.

In the Shibuya Incident, he encountered Nobara Kugisaki and Kento Nanami but quickly succumbed to Sukuna's mighty strength. The violent conclusion of Shigemo is appropriate because it shows how his evil deeds directly brought about an end for him, making him one of the Jujutsu Kaisen characters who faced what they deserved.

2) Naoya Zen'in

Naoya Zen'in comes from the powerful Zen'in family and represents arrogance, misogyny as well as strong feelings of deservingness. His disrespect towards women and those he views as less powerful than him drives his cruel ambition to be the clan leader. However, the end of his power arrives swiftly.

When a weak assassination effort is made on Maki Zen'in, Naoya is cruelly beaten. Later, he encounters his last gruesome demise at the hands of Maki while being a vengeful spirit.

The end of Naoya gives poetic justice, showing the results of his harmful actions and unkind desire for power in this unrelenting realm of jujutsu sorcery, putting him along with the Jujutsu Kaisen characters who met a fitting end.

3) Ogi Zen'in

Ogi Zen'in from Jujutsu Kaisen's Zen'in clan exemplifies the clan's poisonous superiority. His actions display a combination of envy and bitterness towards Maki and Mai. Thinking that they might excel him, Ogi double-crosses them to gain power.

His cruel deeds, like leaving them to perish, turn against him as Maki manages to endure and comes back more powerful. In the end, Maki causes Ogi's death, which is suitable for someone filled with bitterness and arrogance. This makes Ogi Zen'in one of the Jujutsu Kaisen characters who received a deserving punishment.

4) Mahito

Jujutsu Kaisen's cruel and sly cursed spirit, Mahito, can reshape souls, taking pleasure in torturing humans for his amusement. His arrogance and lack of value for life make him a terrifying enemy.

However, he falls down when Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo fight with him in the Shibuya Incident. In a long-lasting battle, Mahito is finally conquered by Yuji, who gives him the last hit that ends his life.

This end is appropriate because it brings fairness to all the innocent lives he troubled before dying himself — showing how some Jujutsu Kaisen characters met their deserving ends.

5) Kenjaku

Kenjaku, who is a master manipulator and strong enemy in Jujutsu Kaisen, always needed a deserving finish because of his wide evilness and manipulation shown throughout the story. The time when he ruled with fear — using cursed techniques for bad outcomes and causing disorder — needed a solution that fit his villainous character.

Yuta Okkotsu gave that solution in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. After neutralizing Rika and coming to the battlefield, Yuta finished Kenjaku's danger by chopping off his head. This not only confirmed Kenjaku's final exit from existence but also freed the cursed spirits he had taken in, highlighting the fairness of his downfall. This makes Kenjaku one of the Jujutsu Kaisen characters who received the fate they always deserved.

1) Riko Amanai

Riko Amanai, one of the key Jujutsu Kaisen characters, dealt with great injustice in the story. As the chosen one for Star Plasma Vessel, she was forced to her destiny that was decided by others with higher power.

Even if Riko had her innocence and potential, her destiny involved her being presented as a sacrifice for merging into Tengen so he could live on while preserving balance across powers.

She had a sad outcome, affected by the harsh norms of jujutsu society and faithless actions from other people. This made her a sufferer in an unjust system where power and control were more important than life itself. Her destiny showed her the inflexibility that life can have.

2) Mai and Maki Zenin

The Zenin twins, Mai and Maki, experienced a deep sense of injustice in the story. Mai was constantly weighed down by the demands placed on her by the Zenin clan; she couldn't escape feeling overshadowed, regardless of her potential.

Simultaneously, Maki fought against the suppressiveness of the clan's expectations and their dismissal because she lacked cursed energy — but for Mai, it was a different story altogether. She had to suffer from her destiny, which had cruel dynamics tied up with this powerful family. Mai's death in a fight, where she had no opportunity to sort out her issues, and her passing came with regret, mirrors the unfair way both sisters were treated.

Maki's ongoing battle for acceptance and Mai’s ultimate loss demonstrate the unfair treatment within the Zenin family. This makes the Zenin twins two of the Jujutsu Kaisen characters that were not treated fairly in the story.

3) Junpei Yoshino

Junpei Yoshino, one of the supporting Jujutsu Kaisen characters, was dealt an unfair hand by fate and society. He genuinely wished to live a regular life but fell prey to the harsh turn of destiny when he met Mahito, who used his suffering and rage against him.

The suffering of Junpei, who transformed into a vengeful spirit only because of Mahito's tricks, shows how he became a mere pawn in some greater plot. The harsh end of his life proves that he was treated unfairly by society and could not fulfill his potential.

Junpei's destiny reflects a harsh reality: those who become entangled in cursed energy battles, even without intending to do so, can face serious outcomes.

4) Mimiko and Nanako Hasaba

Mimiko and Nanako Hasaba faced unfairness like some other Jujutsu Kaisen characters on the list. These sisters were saved from abuse by Suguru Geto, and then they joined his alignment, which became a key part of his plan.

Their request to Sukuna for Kenjaku's death came from a sincere wish to free Geto's body from the influence of Kenjaku. They were not recognized for their faithfulness and dedication. Instead, Mimiko was suddenly murdered by Sukuna, and shortly after, Nanako also suffered the same destiny.

5) Kokichi Muta

Kokichi Muta, also called Mechamaru, had a deep experience of unfairness because of the harsh conditions of his Heavenly Restriction. Kokichi was born with weak physicality, and his life was always difficult; he needed to hide under a robot's appearance.

Though he had great strength, it was gained by sacrificing his own joy and enduring loneliness and bodily pain. His redemption happened when he got healed and could fight in the form of Ultimate Mechamaru.

Sadly, this small taste of strength and friendship quickly ended when he met his death in a fight with Mahito. This makes Mechamaru one of the Jujutsu Kaisen characters who was not treated fairly in the story.

Final thoughts

In Jujutsu Kaisen, the complex mix of justice and destiny frequently creates results that blend feelings of satisfaction with sorrow. This is evident when Jujutsu Kaisen characters such as Mahito and Kenjaku meet their ends in a satisfactory manner, showing the direct effects brought upon by their deeds.

On the other hand, characters like Riko Amanai, Mai Zenin, and Kokichi Muta encounter harsh destinies that appear excessive for what they have done.
