Jujutsu Kaisen characters have some of the most passionate and intense fans out there, contributing to the community with a lot of fan art, fan fiction, and multiple headcanons to fill in the blanks that author Gege Akutami left in the series. However, there are some easy headcanons to make, especially regarding who would hold a respectable job and who would do something illegal.

This is quite simple to figure out when considering how some of these Jujutsu Kaisen characters have been portrayed, such as Nanami Kento's approach to his daily job or how Toji Fushiguro was doing work as a mercenary killing sorcerer.

This list is made solely of characters who have been introduced in the anime adaptation by MAPPA, so manga-only characters are not involved in this discussion.

5 Jujutsu Kaisen characters who would have a legal and respectable job

1. Yuji Itadori

Yuji Itadori is one of the most consistent Jujutsu Kaisen characters as far as having a moral compass goes, and that has been shown time and time again. Even if some tragic events try to push him into a darker and more nihilistic perception of the world, his character is defined by his kindness and disposition to help others.

Moreover, Yuji has been depicted as a fairly normal teenager when he is not working as a sorcerer, so he would likely end up having a normal job. He has shown to be quite respectful of others and tries to be good in his role as a sorcerer, so is easy to imagine him being good at his job and getting along with his coworkers.

2. Yuta Okkotsu

Very similar to Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu is known for being one of the kindest individuals when it comes to Jujutsu Kaisen characters. While he has managed to develop his temperament and self-confidence, he has maintained that kindness and ability to help others, which is saying a lot given the multiple tragedies he has witnessed throughout the story.

Yuta is a down-to-earth and respectful guy, so it is easy to picture him having a respectable position in the workforce and getting by without any major issues. When considering that he managed to adapt to the world of sorcery after a childhood of bullying and tragedies, it is likely that holding a normal job won't be a real problem for him.

3. Megumi Fushiguro

There is no denying that Megumi Fushiguro isn't one of the most social or passionate Jujutsu Kaisen characters out there. He has shown a lack of interest in honing his Jujutsu skills throughout the story, and doesn't seem to have any major interests in other things, so is difficult to imagine him having a lot of passion for a job or a career.

However, Megumi has also shown to be quite respectful and capable of helping others and is not the kind of person who would do something illegal, less so for money. He is the kind of person who would potentially get a job because it is expected of him, and would fulfill his duties in a dispassionate manner.

4. Nanami Kento

Nanami is one of the most responsible Jujutsu Kaisen characters (Image via MAPPA)

When it comes to Jujutsu Kaisen characters, there is no one else who embodies the hatred for working more accurately than Nanami Kento. A major aspect of his journey throughout the story is his lack of desire to work and doing the bare minimum so he can retire somewhat young and move to another country.

However, despite this characterization, Nanami is also presented as someone who follows the rules and believes in contributing to society as an adult to help those younger than him. It is also shown in the anime and the manga that he holds a respectable job and seems to be quite good at it, so he is a good example of this section of the list.

5. Atsuya Kusakabe

Kusakabe is a very similar case to Nanami in the sense that they both can avoid doing their best at their jobs, although the former's situation is more connected to his power level. He knows where he is at, in terms of abilities and strength, so he tries to run away from fights he knows he cannot win, which is a running gag throughout the series.

Having said that, Kusakabe does prove to be one of the most respectable teachers at Jujutsu High and serves as a leader of sorts for the students during more critical portions of the story. Therefore, it is easy to assume that he would hold a normal job and do his work without much fanfare, although his bosses might not be able to expect extra hours from him.

5 Jujutsu Kaisen characters who would do something illegal for money

1. Toji Fushiguro

Toji Fushiguro is the best example among Jujutsu Kaisen characters who would do something illegal for money because he has actually done it. Despite having a Heavenly Restriction, he made use of this situation to become the "Sorcerer Killer", a mercenary who has taken the lives of multiple Jujutsu sorcerers for money.

His biggest job was the one in the Hidden Inventory arc where he is handed the job of killing Riko Amanai, and setting up a confrontation with Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. Moreover, Toji actually got the money for the job but died at the hands of Gojo before enjoying it, although it confirms that this character has no limits when it comes to getting money.

2. Kenjaku

There is no denying that the vast majority of experiments that Kenjaku did throughout the series were illegal. When it comes to Jujutsu Kaisen characters, there is a good chance that he is the one who has committed the most crimes, especially considering that he has been living for centuries.

Just the creation of the Culling Games would be enough for him to be on this list, but is also worth pointing out that he did human experiments out of sheer curiosity. This is a man who doesn't care about the law and would break it if he wanted money, so he has a well-earned place on this list.

3. Mahito

Mahito, one of the most evil Jujutsu Kaisen characters out there (Image via MAPPA)

It might be unfair to place Mahito among these Jujutsu Kaisen characters when considering that he is not even human and is a Curse instead. However, he might be an exception when compared to the likes of Jogo or Hanami because he is the embodiment of human hatred, so he can serve as a reflection of people's worst attributes.

There is no denying that Mahito is evil, callous, ruthless, and sadistic, so it is not hard to imagine him doing a lot of crimes for money, or simply for the sheer joy of the moment. He is one of the most evil Jujutsu Kaisen characters so breaking the line wouldn't difficult for him.

4. Ryomen Sukuna

The vast majority of the series is centered around the idea of killing Ryomen Sukuna, and that makes a lot of sense when audiences see him take over Yuji Itadori's body. The King of Curses is capable of mutilating, killing, torturing, and even committing genocide simply because he feels like it, oftentimes being compared to a natural disaster.

When considering that context and the character's personality, it is difficult to picture Sukuna playing by the book and holding a respectable job. He is likely to break the law because he simply wouldn't understand the concept of the law as he views himself as superior to the rest.

5. Mei Mei

Mei Mei, probably the most greedy among Jujutsu Kaisen characters (Image via MAPPA)

Mei Mei's entire characterization is centered around the fact that she is greedy and willing to do almost anything for money. While she remains an ally to the sorcerers during the entire story, her shady nature is quite clear, especially regarding her little brother Ui Ui. Money also dictates a lot of things she does throughout the series.

There are several Jujutsu Kaisen characters who are defined by their dubious morality, but Mei Mei is the only one for whom money and survival are sole motivations. She views Jujutsu sorcery not as something to help people but rather as a means to get rich.

Final thoughts

Other prominent Jujutsu Kaisen characters could be a good fit for these situations, especially some of those from the manga who haven't been adapted by MAPPA yet.

However, these are the best choices given their characterization and the way they go about things throughout the story.
