Following My Hero Academia manga's end on August 5, 2024, manga fans have been constantly trolling Deku for his fate at the end of the series. While Deku was shown to be getting close to his love interest, Ochako Uraraka, during his high school days, the same wasn't depicted after the eight-year time skip.
Moreover, fans misinterpreted a statement from Deku about failing to meet his friends since his graduation. This made the situation a lot worse as fans theorized that after Deku lost his Quirk, Ochako lost interest in him and ended up with his best friend, Katsuki Bakugo.
This baseless theory spawned a lot of memes, leading to Jujutsu Kaisen fans expressing their relief that their protagonist did not have a romantic interest in the story.

Why are Jujutsu Kaisen fans happy that Yuji doesn't have a love interest like My Hero Academia's Deku?
Ever since My Hero Academia fans theorized what might have happened between Deku and Ochako, many memes started spawning online where they depicted Deku as miserable. As per them, the protagonist not only lost his Quirk One For All but also his love interest, Ochako Uraraka, and to his best friend, Katsuki Bakugo.
Hence, many fans created fan art depicting Katsuki and Ochako together while Deku tried looking happy after receiving the support item from his Class A friends.
While the trolling might have been fun for other fandoms for some time, after a while, they too, started feeling bad for Deku. This is because Deku was a decent protagonist, nevertheless, his legacy at the end of the series was being destroyed in front of everyone simply because the manga did not show him ending up with his love interest at the end.
Hence, with the Jujutsu Kaisen manga inching closer to its end, the series' fans were glad that Yuji Itadori did not have a love interest. This meant that he would not have to go through a similar ordeal.
How fans reacted to Deku getting trolled
Many fans were in agreement that My Hero Academia fans were overdoing the memes as they were funny for a day or so, but now they were really pushing its boundaries.
"It was funny for a day and people started #DraggingIt," one fan said.
"I don’t think there’s a single MC out there who’s been has hated as Deku for literally doing nothing wrong," another said.
Other fans started defending Deku as he had done nothing to get treated by his fandom in such a way. Regardless, ever since the manga ended, he had become a constant target for fans' trolling. There was quite possibly no protagonist more hated than Deku for doing nothing
As for Jujutsu Kaisen fans, they were certain that even if Yuji Itadori had a love interest from the beginning of the series, he would not be trolled in such a way because he would have ascended at the end of the series.
"Wouldn't be like that with Yuji even if he had a romantic interest in the beginning, by the end of things Yuji will have ascended," another fan said.
"I genuinely hope this tweet doesn't age like milk. don't do Yuji like this," other fan said.
Meanwhile, other fans started hoping that what Jujutsu Kaisen fans said about Yuji Itadori would not jinx the storyline and have the protagonist fall under a similar trap at the end of the series.
