Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 was a surprising one for many. Almost every single fan was expecting Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna to engage in an epic clash of fists, with the former showing just how much he has grown and prepared for this final showdown.
Instead, creator Gege Akutami treated viewers to an unusually calm sight— Yuji and Sukuna taking a literal stroll down Yuji's memory lane. This was quite the change of scene from the regular adrenaline-pumping action the series has accustomed viewers to.
During their brief chat, Sukuna responded to Yuji's monologue with indifference. This seemed to lead to fans misunderstanding what he was implying. Here's a look at what was said and what it actually meant.

Fans misinterpret Sukuna's words to Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265
For context, Yuji finally showcased to viewers that he too had reached a level where the pinnacle of Jujutsu sorcery was available to him— Domain Expansion. As he clarified, in the heat of the moment, he used the technique to isolate himself and the Demon King as he wanted to "talk" to the latter.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 then depicts the pair visiting various sites which were manifestations of Yuji's childhood. The scenes showed them in the teen's birthplace, Sendai. He explained how he had to move around as a child due to his grandfather's work before showing him the playground he used to play in. They visited the city square before engaging in a crayfish-catching competition.
Yuji then took Sukuna to the farm he would occasionally drop by in when younger, after which they engaged in archery. Towards the end, the pink-haired boy conveyed to the King of Curses what he felt the meaning of life was, how each person had a role and the value memories gave to one's life. It is after this monologue that Sukuna replies with— "Yeah, I don't feel anything".
This seemed to confuse fans as many thought that he was referring to his general statement about his personality and how he cared for nothing. However, that is not true, and there is a good reason why he replied thus. To begin with, Sukuna's statement is a simple reply to Yuji's fruitless attempt at showing the value of humanity. He already understands it but does not agree with the boy.
He may have been human at one point, but that time is long gone. Now, he is the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. As established by his character, he existed solely for himself, doing whatever he wanted, whenever and however. Upon reaching his level of Jujutsu sorcery, few things surprise or amuse him. This is why he was seeking strong opponents, like Gojo Satoru.
Other than that, humans and Curses were merely playthings and tools for him. For him, they would become useless once they served their purpose. His statement is not to show his general self, but his rejection of the notion Yuji is pitching.
To put it simply, anything that does not offer him personal pleasure or excitement is not interesting or will not stir any emotion in him. Thus, while he understood what Yuji said, he was simply against it as he thought differently.
