Jujutsu Kaisen has remained among the planet's most popular manga series despite its ending in September 2024. While its story retained its entertainment factor throughout its various arcs, its character writing and plot threads have garnered justified critiques from the fandom. The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom has often deemed the actual ending of the series as rushed and lukewarm.
A recent fan project named "Jujutsu no Kaisen," painting itself as the "new ending" was released recently. It has received a lot of critique due to its rather unsavory dialogue and its evidently poor attempt at overwriting Gege Akutami's actual work.

Jujutsu Kaisen fan project proves how good Gege Akutami's writing actually is
The new Jujutsu Kaisen fan project named "Jujutsu no Kaisen" is yet another entry into the recent trend of attempting to overwrite an author's original work with a fan creation. Often, these projects feature writing that can only be considered subpar. Jujutsu Kaisen's actual ending has frequently been regarded as one of the manga endings that disappointed its fans the most.
This perception has led to many critiques, with a few individuals now attempting to present fan fiction as a "new ending." The new fan project, which aimed to "fix" Gege Akutami's original work, has now become a subject of ridicule.
A large part of the fandom has reiterated how disrespectful and distasteful the writing is when compared to Gege Akutami's work. Similar attempts have been made in the past, with Attack on Titan being subjected to comparable treatment.
Fan reaction to the Jujutsu Kaisen fan project
Many fans read the first chapter of the fan project and took to social networking sites to iterate that the entire fandom owes Gege an apology for treating his writing too harshly. A few other fans urged the authors of the fan project to never disrespect Gege.
Meanwhile, others iterated that the fan project's writing is abysmal compared to Gege's writing while also focusing on how the fan project uses AI and tracing for its art.
"how is this worse of a cope than the guys who made aot no requiem in like 2021." One fan said.
"Tracing, AI, and bad writing sh*t like this shouldn't exist. Every fan owes Gege an apology." Another fan chimed in.
Some fans even deemed the first chapter of Jujutsu no Kaisen as the worst manga chapter of 2024, despite it not being a manga at all. Many fans also banded together to mention that the dialogue and its structure resemble the writing of a toddler.
"Buzzer beater winner for worst manga chapter of 2024." Another fan said.
"Because of his opponent who was very strong" - Jujutsu Kaisen if written by 6 year old" Another fan wrote.
Although Gege's original ending was widely hated within the fandom, a huge part of it has now united to prevent individuals from disrespecting his original story. The series ended with a total of only 271 chapters all of which are available for reading on Shueisha's MANGA Plus platform.
Final thoughts
Fan projects and fan fiction have been a significant part of anime and manga fandoms as a whole. However, the current trend of "fixing" an ending or a story has become increasingly popular recently, with Attack on Titan no Requiem being another example of this phenomenon.
While the real ending might not be satisfactory to all fans, it is important to note that a series remains an author's original work, regardless of its reception. Any attempt to "fix" the work of another author is sacrilegious to the author and disrespectful to the fans who supported it throughout its original run.
Gege Akutami's original work might be deemed a "lukewarm" ending by some. However, it should be allowed to maintain its dignity as its own piece of writing.
