The Jujutsu Kaisen finale was leaked recently, and while the reception has been extremely divisive, to say the least, Satoru Gojo fans were among the most disappointed. Ever since the powerful sorcerer was taken out by Ryomen Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, there have been endless theories of how he could be brought back to life. However, the recently leaked chapter 271 has dashed all hopes of that ever happening.
Moreover, there is a general feeling after the Jujutsu Kaisen finale that author Gege Akutami mistreated Satoru Gojo's character, to the point that the series never fully addresses his death. However, the mangaka had no problems adding a flashback between him and the protagonist, Yuji Itadori, adding another layer to Satoru's characterization as he genuinely wants the best for his students.

The Jujutsu Kaisen finale has Satoru Gojo fans in pain after his last appearance
The Jujutsu Kaisen finale has been leaked and hinted that Satoru Gojo wouldn't be brought back to life, much to the pain of his fans. Ever since he was killed by Ryomen Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, there have been endless theories of how he would return to the story, only for all of them to be disproven and debunked time and time again.
However, this final chapter does show Gojo in a flashback as he talks with Yuji Itadori and tells him that he wants him and the rest of his students to live good lives and surpass him. This is something that, in a way, hurt his fanbase even more as it shows the sorcerer's more human side and how he always wanted the best for his students.
All in all, the way Satoru Gojo's death was handled has been the biggest criticism from his fanbase as the story rarely treated said situation. While the entirety of the Jujutsu Kaisen finale is yet to be leaked, Gojo hasn't even received a funeral to honor his sacrifices in the most important battle of the series, often giving the readers a sour taste in their mouths when it came to this plot point.
The legacy of Satoru Gojo
There is no denying that the Jujutsu Kaisen finale still leaves questions about Satoru Gojo, which shows how dear the character is to the fanbase. He is undoubtedly one of the most popular characters in the series and one who has become the face of the franchise despite not being the protagonist. This, in turn, has become a bit of a running meme in the community in recent years.
However, despite Gojo's legacy being mostly positive, serving as a major plot point for Kenjaku and his Curses to overcome, there is always this general feeling that author Gege Akutami wasn't very fond of his character. Hence, this may explain why he was eliminated by Sukuna offscreen and why his death has never been fully addressed. This has been further complicated by the recent leaks of the Jujutsu Kaisen finale.
Final thoughts
The Jujutsu Kaisen finale didn't help the Satoru Gojo fanbase but rather deepened their wounds and reminded them that their favorite sorcerer was never going to return. However, his legacy in the series will continue long past its conclusion.
