As author and illustrator Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga series continues hurtling towards its ultimate end, fans are certainly shocked by the direction the mangaka is heading. While a Heian era flashback revealing Sukuna, Kenjaku, Tengen, and Uraume’s origins was foregone, this latest installment went out of its way to establish lore about the New Shadow Style.

Needless to say, Jujutsu Kaisen fans are frustrated considering how high their hopes were for a flashback focusing on the Heian era crew’s origins and journeys. While complaints and critiques were initially held back to see where Akutami went next, some are now slamming the manga for choosing to essentially waste time on unimportant matters.

However, there’s a silver lining to this approach from Akutami that Jujutsu Kaisen fans should get extremely excited about. With all of the new lore being introduced, especially with it touching on the coming war in the world of sorcery, there’s a very real possibility that a second part of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga is coming.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga all but confirms its future in a second part via chapter 269’s events and more

As mentioned above, the events within Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269 per alleged spoilers serve as some of the strongest pieces of evidence for a second part to Akutami’s manga series. One of the most recognizable moments is the fact that lore regarding Tengen is being introduced just as the manga is seemingly about to end. Specifically, this lore suggests their involvement with the New Shadow Style school, which is being set up as apparently significant in these final issues.

Likewise, with nothing being confirmed here beyond Tengen’s knowledge of the New Shadow Style and the leader’s identity, it seems unnecessary to work his name in here with no purpose. Mei Mei just as easily could’ve said she discovered it in Tengen’s records, rather than the series seemingly implying that Mei Mei learned it from Tengen personally. Likewise, even if this isn’t the case, the implication still remains that Tengen was involved with New Shadow Style.

There’s also the fact that chapter 269 not only reveals lore on the New Shadow Style but also spends an overwhelming majority of its length on this discussion. This is even at the expense of fully explaining what happened to Satoru Gojo’s body and giving the Shinjuku survivors time to mourn those who died. Essentially, the installment’s main focus is clearly established as this focus on New Shadow Style.

Comments from Mei Mei within this focus further suggest a second part is coming, as she specifically references a coming power struggle between the Gojo and Kamo clans. Mei Mei also implies that the previous leader of the New Shadow Style was also planning on throwing their hat into this ring. Clearly, Gege is beginning to set something up that can’t reasonably be covered in two chapters, further suggesting a second part is coming.

One final piece of evidence stems from the fact that there’s been little to no acknowledgment of or fanfare for the manga’s imminent apparent conclusion. While this isn’t as strong a piece of evidence as the above, it does further suggest that something is up considering the celebrations surrounding My Hero Academia’s recent ending. Likewise, while it’s unconfirmed, it seems extremely likely that a second part to Akutami’s manga series is indeed coming.
