Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 260 is set to be released on May 20, 2024, and where it might have indicated the return of Gojo Satoru, things could turn out way different as compared to the expectations of the fandom.

The chapter saw Aoi Todou overpowering Ryomen Sukuna with his cursed technique, combined with continuous blows from the protagonist, Itadori Yuji. But the return of the strongest sorcerer, as indicated in the last panel, became the talk of the town with fans expecting the return of their favorite sorcerer.

But in reality, there could be a chance that the domain expansion, which fans thought Sukuna was activating, was a delayed activation of Infinity Void that the Honored One placed on the King of Curses during their battle. As some fans might notice, this could reference a fan-favorite moment from Bleach where Urahara seals Aizen using a delayed spell.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Gojo's return could be a delayed domain expansion, similar to Urahara's attack in Bleach

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 260 commenced with Aoi Todou revealing the Vibraslap, the apparatus he is using to activate his Boogie Woogie cursed technique. First, he transported everyone out of Sukuna's domain range, except himself and Yuji.

After doing this, the protagonist and Aoi attacked Sukuna using Boogie Woogie, thus angering the King of Curses further. Sukuna tried to counter Aoi's cursed technique but couldn't understand its mechanism. Yuji pierced Sukuna's chest, which the King of Curses used as a way to grab the protagonist.

As the King of Curses was about to hit Sukuna, the chapter saw a 'domain expansion' panel after which Sukuna saw an image of the strongest sorcerer he himself killed, Gojo Satoru. As fans could have already noticed, the chapter's spoilers state that Sukuna used domain expansion at the end of the chapter, but the reality could differ.

The 'domain expansion,' which appeared in the chapter, was on a black panel, which states that it was from someone who is not present on the battlefield, thus linking it to the Honored One. This 'domain expansion' could be a delayed one that Gojo Satoru placed on Sukuna during the battle of the strongest.

As it is not possible to defeat Sukuna through straightforward attacks, the Honored One could have placed a domain expansion on Sukuna which would only activate when the King of Curses gets extremely weak or injured, which fits perfectly with Sukuna's current state where he can hardly use his cursed technique.

If this is the case, it would be a direct reference to the fall of Aizen from Bleach. During the Fake Karakura Town arc of Bleach, Aizen crossed paths with Urahara. WItnessing Aizen getting a hold of a forbidden power, Urahara tried to restrict him with the Hado-91 spell called the Senju Kouten Taihou (English: Thousand-Hand Incandant Heaven Culling-Sear).

Aizen was unharmed by this spell and in return, attacked Urahara. But the thing was that Urahara had attached another spell with the Hado-91 named the ultimate seal of destruction.

This spell was particularly designed to seal Aizen and would only activate when the antagonist's power weakened, which it did later on when Aizen fought Ichigo. So, where this does rule out the possibility of the return of the Honored One, this does give the sorcerers a chance to take down Sukuna for good.

Final thoughts

To no one's surprise, Jujutsu Kaisen is not new to referencing other Shounen series, specifically Bleach as there are countless similarities between these two anime series.

Both feature protagonists who accidentally attain powers have similar teachers with goofy personalities (Gojo and Urahara), and many other things making this article more credible. But take this article with a grain of salt and wait for the official confirmation.
