Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the strongest special-grade cursed spirits who showcased his potential by killing most amount of the main lead characters, after the King of Curses. He was "supposedly" born during the Vs Mahito arc and appeared before Junpei when he started feeling hatred for his friends who used to bully him.

However, Mahito died during the Shibuya arc at the hands of Kenjaku, after which his curse technique was used to start the Culling Game. Mahito, who was born from hatred, could not be the first curse born from hatred because hatred is innate to human nature. So, someone who was born before him, who embodied human hatred, could have been exorcised by a strong sorcerer.

Mahito is a special-grade cursed spirit that was born from the hatred that humans held against each other. He made his first official appearance in the Vs Mahito arc as he gave Junpei the power and strength to kill his bullies, but in reality, he was just using Junpei for fun only to disappoint him in the end.

The cursed spirit was responsible for killing some of the strongest sorcerers from Jujutsu Tech, like Kento Nanami and Mechamaru, and this was only to drive Itadori into a corner, which gave Mahito pleasure. This could be related to his origins, as he was born from the hatred humans hold against each other and he felt pleasure when others held hatred for him.

Kenjaku absorbed Mahito during Jujutsu Kaisen's Shibuya arc to use the special-grade cursed spirit's technique, Idle Transfiguration, to activate the cursed energy of some non-sorcerers. However, Mahito cannot be the only cursed spirit born from human hatred, as the emotion has been present since ancient times.

So, a special-grade cursed spirit, born from the same hatred, could be present at the start of the world. The cycle of cursed spirit could be continued in a similar way to how humans and the next descendant born could be resistant to the factors that killed (exorcized) the previous ones.

Especially during the Heian Era of Jujutsu Kaisen, which was the peak of sorcery. The cursed spirit born from hatred during this time could have faced a hard time surviving among strong sorcerers. Mahito's young appearance is also proof as to why he could be a newly born special-grade cursed spirit. So, Mahito was not the first curse born from hatred.

Final thoughts

The origins of cursed spirits have been a mystery that the author could skip explaining considering how there is only one chapter left before the series reaches its climax. However, the series had hinted at their origins through some hints.

After Dagon was killed and Jogo arrived to take care of the sorcerers that exited his domain, Jogo explained how he would meet his friend again after 100 years. So, while there isn't much known about curses' origins, some hints give proof about how long after they are born.
