With the series’ break week now over, fans are eager to see what Jujutsu Kaisen mangaka Gege Akutami has in store for them in the upcoming official chapter 264 release. With the previous issue yet again leaving fans on a cliffhanger, fans are more anxious than ever for Yuji and co as Sukuna is seemingly finally put up against the ropes.
Unfortunately, verifiable spoilers for the next installment in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series are unavailable as of this article’s writing. These spoilers are likely to come out later this week, now that the series’ break week is over. However, the series’ spoiler process is also liable to go defunct at any time without warning, meaning there’s no certainty regarding whether the spoilers will come, let alone when.
That being said, there are aspects of and events within Jujutsu Kaisen’s upcoming official release that fans can likely count on being present even without verifiable spoilers. Generally speaking, the route the issue takes hinges on what Jacob’s Ladder technique ends up doing to Sukuna, which can end in one of two major ways.
Upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen chapter will look very different depending on the outcome of Jacob’s Ladder
Essentially, Jujutsu Kaisen’s upcoming release can take two major routes, hinting at the efficacy of Jacob’s Ladder. The first would see Sukuna somehow reject or avoid the attack entirely, being wholly unbothered by it. The second would see Sukuna all but defeated by the attack, likely prompting a fighting frenzy with Yuji and co trying to kill Sukuna as he attempts to escape them.
In the first scenario, it’s difficult to predict what could be next, as the flashback of Yuta Okkotsu discussing this strategy with Hana Kurusu confirmed its intention as the finishing blow. In other words, it’s unlikely that Yuji and co have any plans whatsoever left after Jacob’s Ladder, likely forcing them to scramble and come up with something on the fly.
Likewise, Jujutsu Kaisen’s next issue could very well be one of the Shinjuku Showdown arc’s bloodiest yet, seeing Sukuna go on an absolute rampage to take advantage of Yuji and co’s confusion. Hana herself and Aoi Todo would likely be the first people Sukuna targets since they’re also the most troublesome.
This would likely leave Yuji as the last on the battlefield against Sukuna currently, and the last one to oppose him overall. Likewise, this scenario should see chapter 264 end with Sukuna and Yuji squaring off for what’s likely the final time. However, in the latter route, fans would likely instead see a new side to Sukuna as he emerges from Jacob’s Ladder all but beaten.
Fans should learn via his internal monologue that even with Megumi Fushiguro’s apathy towards fighting for control, Sukuna is naturally losing control over Megumi’s body and soul. This should prompt him to begin considering escape, in turn infuriating him over being pushed so far to the point where he loses track of his surroundings.
This should then allow Yuji and Todo to begin whaling on him, relying on the former’s ability to strike at souls as being the final nail in Sukuna’s coffin. It should also lead to a final conversation between Yuji and Megumi in which Yuji finally convinces Megumi to begin fighting back.

The issue will likely end with Megumi starting to wrest control of his body back from Sukuna as Yuji and Todo continue raining down blows.
