With Ryomen Sukuna’s defeat confirmed heading into the Jujutsu Kaisen manga’s next release, fans are curious to learn what the total fallout of the Shinjuku Showdown arc will be. Fans are likewise nervous to discover this, as the first focus of this fallout will be on Yuta Okkotsu’s current status after the gamble he made by switching into Satoru Gojo’s body.

Unfortunately, verifiable spoilers for the next installment in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series are unavailable as of this article’s writing. Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269 will likely open up with a focus on the Cursed Spirit Rika, who’ll likely be shown in a state of mourning. This would follow Yuji Itadori’s comment in chapter 268 about needing to save Yuta, suggesting that his current status is grim. More likely than not, Yuta will be revealed as trapped inside Satoru Gojo’s body, unable to move and unable to use his Cursed Technique to transfer back over.

It’s possible that Yuji may be asked to utilize his Cursed Technique to weaken the grip Yuta’s soul has on Gojo’s body. This will likely be used in combination with Ui Ui’s Cursed Technique to transfer Yuta’s soul from Gojo’s body into his own. From here, Shoko Ieiri may attempt a brain transplant to cement the operation, and hopefully save Yuta’s life as a result.

However, it’s unlikely that things go so smoothly, with Gojo’s Infinity Cursed Technique likely to play a role in the effectiveness of Yuji’s own Cursed Technique. It’s likely at this moment that Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269 will see Rika reveal that there may be one final way to save Yuta. This will likely be revealed as Rika sacrificing herself for Yuta, paralleling their initial parting at the end of volume 0’s events.

This should bring the issue to its halfway point, where the focus will likely shift to the other participants of the Shinjuku Showdown arc whose statuses are still unknown. Hiromi Higuruma is one such character and is likely to be revealed as having died considering the hype around his potential from Sukuna and others. The fact that Higuruma accepted his death as he headed into the fight with Sukuna, suggests that he is truly gone, which only supports the fact.

From here, the issue will likely end with a general focus on how jujutsu society is rebuilding in the wake of Sukuna’s defeat. Yoshinobu Gakuganji will likely be the cornerstone of the new higher-ups, or whatever governing body replaces them. Atsuya Kusakabe, Shoko Ieiri, and Kiyotaka Ijichi are likely to become involved in whatever this new government is. The issue will likely end with this new leadership unit discussing Yuji’s stay of execution given Sukuna’s death.

Final thoughts

With only a few chapters left before the series finale, Gege must tie up all the loose ends left after the major battle between Sukuna and the present-day sorcerers. Yuta played a major role in carrying on the fight after Gojo's death and managed to further damage Sukuna to make Yuji's attacks more effective against him.

It would be fair treatment towards him to give him a proper ending apart from the main trio. There are also other characters like Gakuganji, Higurama, and others who played a major role in the fight against Sukuna. Having their characters reach a deserved ending will make the series finale all the more worthwhile for the fans.
