As mangaka Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen heads into what could very well be its final release ever in chapter 270, fans are extremely eager to learn what’s in store. Many are asserting that recent, confusing choices by Akutami could be setting up a sequel or a Part 2. However, as of this article’s writing, there’s no official news on this being the case.
Unfortunately, verifiable spoilers for the next installment in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series are also unavailable as of this article’s writing. These spoilers are likely to come out later this week, now that the series’ break week is over. However, the series’ spoiler process is also liable to go defunct at any time without warning, meaning there’s no certainty regarding if spoilers will come, let alone when.
Thankfully, there are certain aspects of the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen installment that fans can count on being present, even without the help of verifiable spoilers. Chiefly, the issue will focus on Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki’s expected battle with an unknown Curse User. However, what’s more difficult to predict is where the finale will go following this likely initial focus.
Disclaimer: This article contains probable spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen series.
Jujutsu Kaisen manga likely to fully conclude in chapter 271 given current lack of credible sequel rumors
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 will likely open up with Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara already on patrol looking for the suspected Curse User. They’ll likely spend a little bit of time talking with each other about the fallout of the Shinjuku Showdown arc’s events before running into the Curse User. However, this is where the issue could diverge into two largely different paths depending on whether this is truly the end or not.
If this is the end of the series overall, then fans can expect this fight to take up a majority of the issue’s remaining length. This will likely then be followed by the group returning to the afflicted couple, saying their goodbyes, and returning to Tokyo Jujutsu High. A brief scene of Yuji happy to have made so many friends to surround him for when he dies will likely play out before the series ends.
If a Jujutsu Kaisen sequel or part 2 is coming, then the battle will likely be over relatively quickly and lead to bigger revelations. A group of reincarnated sorcerers from the Culling Game is likely to be involved considering the overt setup for this via Megumi’s dialogue in chapter 270’s final pages. The trio may even be overwhelmed and forced to surrender, being taken to the group’s base of operations and discovering who this leader is.
One candidate for this role of leader could be the new comedy partner Fumihiko Takaba seemingly created with his Comedian Technique. This character’s hair suggested they were modeled after Kenjaku as Suguru Geto in Takaba’s mind, possibly inadvertently resulting in a rebirth or reincarnation of Kenjkau or Suguru Geto. In either scenario, it would make sense for them to become a leader of a group of sorcerers looking to do evil.
A discussion will likely then play out between the trio and this character, setting up what the major overarching plot of the sequel or second part would be. Shortly thereafter, their allies might rescue the trio or they might be let go by the group of reincarnated sorcerers. The issue will likely end with Yuji and his friends discussing these revelations, clearly setting up the series’ return/continuation in the process.
Final thoughts
With the Jujutsu Kaisen finale right around the corner, there are many things that the fans would like to be clarified about. However, Gege seems to be moving in his own direction, without explaining any of the plot points he introduced vaguely in the story. Chapter 270 teased the fans with visuals of Takaba and Kenjaku, both of whom should be dead now.
Many fans are expecting a Shippuden treatment with the series, with the world after the Culling Game being explored further. They would also like to see the main trio take up positions in the shoes of their predecessors. Gege doesn't seem to be making any such plans at the moment, but the finale would hopefully clarify the future of the series.
