Oftentimes, it's a bit jarring to think that one of Jujutsu Kaisen's most intriguing moments lies in the depths of a tragic friendship. After Suguru Geto fully embraced his descent to darkness and turned his back on the Jujutsu society, he threw a philosophical grenade at Gojo - "Are you the strongest because you're Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because you're the strongest?"
Geto's question to Gojo is one that has remained unanswered until now, seeing as to how it could have only been answered after the latter's death. In the recently released Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263 spoilers, Yuta (in Gojo's body) continued his battle against Sukuna.
Amidst the battle however, Yuta's struggle in adapting to Gojo's body and his immense power provided fans with a definitive answer to Geto's question, as the truth was surprisingly connected to Gojo's Six Eyes.
How Yuta's struggle in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263 answered Geto's question to Gojo
Suguru Geto's question to Satoru Gojo - "Are you the strongest because you're Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because you're the strongest?", is one that has given birth to countless debates over the years among fans. The meaning of the question, however, is rather simple.
By posing this question, Geto is indirectly exploring the source of Gojo's strength - whether Gojo's strength that he inherited due to his ancestry shaped who he is, or if his efforts, choices, skills, and determination made him the strongest.
This particular question remained unanswered for the majority of the series, seeing as how there was no possible way to explore the answer earlier. However, the recent events of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has made it possible for fans to finally learn the truth.
After Yuta Okkotsu took over Satoru Gojo's corpse in order to face Sukuna, fans were worried that Yuta might somehow end up being better at using Gojo's powers than the latter himself, thereby further ruining his character even after his death.
Fortunately, things ended up going in the opposite direction instead, as Yuta was seen visibly struggling to adapt to Gojo's body and his Limitless Cursed Technique in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263.
Yuta admitted that he couldn't master Gojo's Limitless Cursed Technique even after the swap training, as he finally understood the value of the Six Eyes. He then thought back to all the times when Gojo used to declare himself as "The Strongest", and wondered just how much effort it must have taken in order to master the Six Eyes and claim the title so confidently.
Throughout his recent battle against Sukuna, Yuta's struggle to use Gojo's Cursed Technique is an indication that despite possessing attributes and powers like the Six Eyes and Limitless, a certain amount of mental fortitude is also necessary in order to keep such powers under control.
It was only after Yuta was literally in Gojo's shoes, that he finally understood that his teacher was the "Strongest Sorcerer of the Modern Era," not only because of all the powers and abilities at his disposal, but also because of his own efforts, skills, and mental fortitude.
Satoru Gojo's immense strength was not only because of his heritage, but all of his near-death experiences and his efforts to control his power and use it efficiently. While it was also stated that Gojo didn't have to work as hard as others to learn a new technique, it doesn't necessarily mean that he didn't work hard to learn new powers like the Reverse Cursed Technique and master them.
Therefore, fans can rest assured that Geto's age-old question was finally answered - their beloved blindfolded teacher was Satoru Gojo because he was the Strongest. In other words, his efforts and mental strength led him to become the "Strongest Sorcerer of the Modern Era," and even with Gojo's powers, there is no other sorcerer who could hope to reach his level of strength.
