Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 266 is to be released on August 19, 2024, but the spoilers for the chapter have already been unveiled, and the Ten Shadow Technique rendered useless could be one reason behind the demise of the King of Curses. Megumi's trump card, the Divine General, was also no longer usable to Sukuna.
All of this could be because Fushigoro Megumi is eradicating his cursed technique so that the King of Curses couldn't progress any further in the last fight. As the Ten Shadow Technique was still a trump card under Sukuna's hand, after its deactivation, the King of Curses might need to find some other way to excel against Itadori.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Megumi lost Ten Shadow Techniques and Mahoraga
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 266 spoilers commenced with a monologue between Yuji and Megumi as the latter sorcerer claimed how he wanted to create a peaceful world for his sister and that spending a peaceful life with Itadori and company every day made him feel like he was having a good life. Despite all this, Itadori couldn't bring up the words to tell Megumi to keep living.
The spoilers then returned to the present where Yuji versus Sukuna entered the next phase as the King of Curses activated Hollow Wicker Basket to counter Yuji's domain expansion. After the exchange of a few blows, the spoilers showcased Megumi when he was a kid standing before Itadori, the same scene as the first meeting between Megumi and Gojo.
Itadori made a face, just like his teacher, but he wanted to tell Megumi that it would be a sad life without him around. This could be the trigger that awakened Megumi from his sleep and the next instance, the King of Curses' body started submerging inside a shadow.
Ryomen Sukuna commented on how the link between him and Megumi was weakened because of Itadori's Shrine. The Ten Shadow Technique and its trump card, Divine General Mahoraga, had also been rendered useless for the King of Curses. Itadori smiled after witnessing Megumi fight back, which boosted the protagonist's spirits.
Ten Shadow Technique is the inherited curse technique of the Zenin clan which Fushigoro inherited. The potential of this technique depends entirely on the user, on how they combine different shikigami and use them. Megumi used two or more shikigami individually in battle by utilizing his battle IQ and the shikigami's abilities.
On the other hand, Ryomen Sukuna used this technique differently, by combining some shikigami to produce an ultimate beast, Agito, just like how he did against Gojo Satoru in the battle of the strongest. The same could be said about Mahoraga, as Megumi wasn't able to control it and Sukuna utilized its abilities against Gojo Satoru.
The current situation where Megumi's cursed technique was rendered useless could be the sorcerer sacrificing everything that could weaken the King of Curses even the slightest. As the next chapter would mark the end of the longest arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, the King of Curses could be reaching his end without Mahoraga and Megumi's cursed technique as a option in battle.
The alternative
The other thing that could happen would be that Megumi retained his cursed energy in his soul, and this made the King of Curses think that his vessel's cursed technique was no longer usable.
This would be a much more interesting approach because Megumi with a lethal weapon in his hands, Mahoraga, and Yuji with his Shrine need to attack Sukuna from both outside and inside the body, thus marking the demise of the King of Curses.
