Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 262 only had seven pages of story. However, the final page of Rika crying while holding Yuta's lifeless body has kicked fan theories into overdrive. This is mainly due to several fans assuming that Rika's tears mean Yuta has died in battle, although the most likely situation is that she feels impotent by not being able to help her, although a recent fan theory suggests that could change in the coming chapters.

Considering how author Gege Akutami has approached this final battle against Ryomen Sukuna, there is a good chance that the coming Jujutsu Kaisen chapters could see Rika stepping up to fight the King of Curses once again. However, this theory points out that she could fight on her own after Yuta's death, thus finally setting up the literal "King of Curses vs. Queen of Curses" battle in the manga.

Explaining how Rika could fight Sukuna in the coming Jujutsu Kaisen chapters

Chapter 262 of the manga showed how Yuta, now in Satoru Gojo's body, was getting beaten by Ryomen Sukuna and the final page displayed a crying Rika as she held the lifeless body of her beloved. This has led to a lot of theories that Yuta is about to die, which makes sense considering the rival he is facing and the conditions that led to him taking Gojo's body. However, this could also work as a way for Rika to fight Sukuna once again.

The theory suggests that Rika, out of grief and rage for losing Yuta, is going to fully turn into a Curse with free will and face Sukuna to avenge the man she loves. This could mean that Rika could have a considerable power up and also perhaps gain a sense of self beyond basic human emotions, although that last part could be up for interpretation.

The biggest problem with this theory, however, is the fact that this version of Rika is just a husk of who she is and became a Curse because of Yuta when the former died as a little girl in a car accident. Therefore, it is because of Yuta that she is still alive and could also die when the former passes away in combat.

What could happen in the coming chapters

There is a good chance that the coming Jujutsu Kaisen chapters will focus on the battle between Sukuna and Yuta, with the latter probably showing more abilities and leveling the playing field a bit. It is also very likely that Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo are going to step in once the Domain clash ends, which could serve to corner Sukuna, unless Yuta dies before that happens.

Another subplot at the moment is the battle between Uraume and Hakari, although it has become a running meme in the fandom that Gege Akutami has forgotten about this fight. There is also a good chance that other characters may get involved in the battle with Sukuna, which has been a running pattern in the series since Satoru Gojo was killed.

Final thoughts

While it seems very likely that Rika might get involved in the battle against Sukuna once again in the Jujutsu Kaisen, this theory may not be realized. However, that final page in chapter 262 seems to suggest something involving the characters of Rika and Yuta.
