Jujutsu Kaisen's Sukuna kills Yuji theory could give an iconic Mahito moment even more meaning

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263 was recently leaked and continued the sorcerers' battle with Ryomen Sukuna, with the latter continuing to stand despite being massively outnumbered. In that regard, there has been a long-running theory that Sukuna is going to kill the protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori, thus connecting the latter to another major antagonist, Mahito, in a way many won't see coming.

This theory was penned by the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom a while ago and suggests that Yuji is going to be killed by Sukuna's hand and come back in the form of a Curse because of his frustration and pain of not being able to protect his loved ones. It goes further by explaining that he could become the new Curse of human hatred, thus making the "I'm you" moment with Mahito in the Shibuya Incident arc literal.

Explaining how Yuji could turn into the new Mahito while fighting Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen

There is a theory in the fandom that suggests that Ryomen Sukuna is going to kill Yuji Itadori in the final battle and the latter is going to turn into a Curse to keep fighting. This scenario paints a picture where Yuji's frustration and anger of not being able to save and protect people is going to turn him into the Curse of human hatred, much like Mahito was.

In that regard, this would make the "I'm you, Mahito" moment by Yuji from the Shibuya Incident arc a lot more literal, suggesting that the character is going to become the one thing he hated the most. And now that he is an extremely powerful Curse, he is going to take care of a weakened Sukuna, with the last part already being shown in the last thirty chapters or so of the manga.

The theory goes even further by explaining that Yuji is going to remain in control of himself and is going to exorcise himself after killing Sukuna. That way he is going to continue his vow of destroying Curses time and time again while also having a dignified death in the process.

What could happen in the coming chapters

The recent Jujutsu Kaisen chapter saw Yuta, Yuji, and Todo battling Sukuna in many different forms, putting the King of Curses against the wall. Also, the most recent chapter ended with a massive cliffhanger as readers saw the return of Hana Kurusu, also known as Angel, using her ability of Jacob's Ladder to, on paper, fully decimate Sukuna.

While Hana Kurusu has returned, it is also very likely that Sukuna is going to survive the attack or dodge it in some shape and form. That has been a running issue with this final arc since it seems that the King of Curses is always going to survive, so is going to be interesting to see what author Gege Akutami does in this situation.

Final thoughts

It is difficult to see Yuji becoming a Curse in Jujutsu Kaisen but this could be an ironic and interesting way to see his words to Mahito in Shibuya become literal. However, this is mere fan speculation at the moment and nothing in the story has suggested that this could be the way.
