The idea that the author of Jujutsu Kaisen hates Gojo Satoru has been popular among the fandom. This is why a big part of the fandom wanted Sukuna to be the reason behind the Honored One's demise. However, the author could also have a secret admiration for the Honored One, which is evident from the character's official booklet.
The official booklet of Gojo Satoru states the King of Curses' comments for the former, which can be translated as someone who clears the skies of someone else. This shows the level of admiration and respect the King of Curses holds for the Honored One and how the author might have a secret admiration for the character.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Exploring Ryomen Sukuna's praise for Gojo Satoru
The Gojo official booklet was recently released in Japan. It featured different answers regarding the sorcerer and his relationships with his fellow sorcerers. While the sorcerer's relationships with his fellow colleagues weren't of much importance, as they were as fans had expected, Sukuna's relationship was of key importance.
According to the booklet, Sukuna's comment for the Honored One was 'magnificent,' hinting that these two powerhouses had a relationship of respect. However, as the Japanese language is very diverse, the kanji for magnificent can be read in another way.
The kanji '天晴れだ' can also be read as 'you cleared my skies.' This metaphorical expression means that someone brings clarity or happiness into someone else's life. The King of Curses and the Honored One fought in the battle of the strongest, and after killing the latter, the former said that he would never forget the Honored One as he was the strongest opponent the Disgraced One had ever faced.
This could be the reason why the author related them through a kanji that signifies the meaning of respect and admiration. This could also indicate that Gege Akutami's hate for the Honored One might just be a facade, as he would never make the King of Curses appreciate a character he hated from the start.
The relationship between Sukuna and Gojo
From the first episode, in which the King of Curses and the Honored One crossed paths, their relationship has been competitive as they anticipated their fight in the future. However, due to Itadori's sheer determination, the King of Curses could never voluntarily take over the sorcerer's body.
Things changed after the Shibuya arc as the Honored One was sealed inside the Prison Realm. This gave the King of Curses an opportunity to look for an opening where he could change his tactics. So, during the Culling Game arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, the King of Curses cornered Itadori and Megumi and transferred himself to Megumi.
He proceeded with the bath and killed Megumi's sister, making his host consciousness as weak as he could to take over his body permanently. Fortunately, right around this time, the Honored One was also released from his seal.
This marked the declaration of the battle of the strongest in Shinjuku. The fight started with Gojo's Hollow Purple and ended with Sukuna's world-cutting dismantle that marked the demise of the Honored One.
