Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna represent the upper limit of unparalleled strength in Jujutsu Kaisen, as both sorcerers were deemed to be the strongest of their respective times. The sheer gap in strength between these two and the rest of the characters is so far apart, that even a weakened Sukuna at death's door was able to dominate every single sorcerer that stepped up to face him.

Now that the two characters are seemingly long gone, fans are reflecting on their epic showdown that took place in the early stages of the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

While Sukuna and Gojo are undoubtedly the strongest characters of the entire series, a thorough analysis of their respective cursed techniques showcased that their greatest strengths could not be more different than each other.

The Shinjuku Showdown arc of Jujutsu Kaisen featured the long-awaited clash of the titans, as Satoru Gojo took on the undisputed King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, in a battle to determine the strongest jujutsu sorcerer of all time.

It was a battle of not just mere strength or mastery over Jujutsu sorcery, but also of wits, knowledge, and strategy. Ultimately, the King of Curses prevailed in the Battle of the Strongest and proved to be a better sorcerer, as he took out Gojo in one powerful strike that bisected the world.

Each character utilized their greatest strengths in the battle, as they put to test everything they had learned over the course of their lives. However, if a careful analysis of the entire fight were to be performed along with a thorough study of every little move of each character, one may realize that the greatest strength of Sukuna is in direct contrast with Gojo.

That said, in order to fully arrive at this conclusion, let us first take a look at their respective cursed techniques.

Sukuna's Cursed Technique - Shrine

Ryomen Sukuna's Cursed technique - which is known as Shrine, allows him to launch slashes at his target at various ranges, as well as unleash destructive flames. His primary slashing attacks are Cleave and Dismantle, and his fire attack is called the Divine Flame, which he is allowed to use only after using his two slashing attacks beforehand.

There's no doubt that Sukuna's slashes are among the most devastating attacks in the entire series, seeing as to how they were able to completely lay the entire city of Shibuya to waste. Furthermore, they even cut down other Special Grade cursed spirits.

Upon witnessing the sheer destructive capacity of these attacks, one may consider either Sukuna's slashes or his Divine Flame to be his greatest strength. However, this is certainly not the case, as Sukuna's greatest strength actually lies in his astute knowledge of Jujutsu sorcery.

This has been proven several times throughout the series. In fact, Sukuna's knowledge about Jujutsu sorcery is so vast, that he was even able to find loopholes in Binding Vows and manipulate them according to his will. What's more, his years of experience as a Jujutsu sorcerer in the Heian Era made him capable enough to be able to learn and perfect any technique or ability that he viewed even once.

A perfect example of this would be Sukuna using Mahoraga's second adaptation to Gojo's Limitless as a model, and then enhancing his Dismantle attack by extending its target area to the world itself, thereby transforming it into 'the slash that can bisect the entire world.'

By using this particular attack, Sukuna was able to defeat and kill Gojo in one fell swoop, that too, after being severely damaged by the latter's Hollow Purple technique. It also gave Sukuna an attack that he could use to get rid of anyone in a single strike, making it perhaps the most overpowered attack in the entirety of the series.

On the other hand, Satoru Gojo's greatest strengths are his innate cursed technique - Limitless, and his Six Eyes, both of which he inherited from his clan. Limitless granted Gojo the absolute control of space through cursed energy manipulation at an atomic level. In other words, it enabled him to manipulate and distort the space around him at will.

As evident, this is an extremely overpowered technique, as it led Gojo to develop a defensive barrier called Infinity, which basically slows down a person or an object that approaches him by an infinite amount. In other words, Gojo's Infinity makes him untouchable to most attacks.

As for the Six Eyes, it hasn't actually been discussed in as much detail as Gojo's Limitless technique. However, a basic understanding of the Six Eyes was provided by Yuta Okkotsu, who stated that its basic function was to reduce Gojo's cursed energy consumption from technique activation to zero. This meant that Gojo would never run of out cursed energy, no matter how much of it is spent in activating his techniques.

Therefore, it is evident that Satoru Gojo's greatest strength lies in his overpowered cursed techniques, which he inherited from his clan.

In contrast, Sukuna's greatest strength lies in his extensive knowledge of Jujutsu sorcery, along with his experience of being a sorcerer during the Heian Era, which is considered to be the most ruthless yet peak age of sorcery.

In the end, Sukuna's astute knowledge, experience, and strategic mindset prevailed over Gojo's powerful abilities, which solidified his status as the Strongest Sorcerer in History.
