Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263 recently came out and saw the return of Hana Kurusu as the cliffhanger, with her launching her Jacob's Ladder toward Ryomen Sukuna. While the chapter ended without any certainty of the attack hitting the King of Curses, there are already some theories of how the latter could survive and would be saved due to the help of another villain, Kenjaku.

According to a lot of fans, it has become a bit repetitive that Sukuna continues to fight in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga regardless of what is thrown his way, and is likely that he is going to carry on after Hana's attack. In that regard, there is a plausible way for that to happen, and could be due to Kenjaku's final course of action before dying against Yuta Okkotsu.

Explaining how Sukuna could survive Hana's Jacob's Ladder thanks to Kenjaku in Jujutsu Kaisen

The theory, found on Reddit, explains that Sukuna is going to be able to survive Hana Kurusu's use of Jacob's Ladder because Kenjaku handed Tengen to him. This was shown during Kenjaku's final moments against Yuta Okkotsu as he teleported Tengen to the King of Curses, who ate the former sorcerer and hasn't been addressed in the story ever since.

While this explains that Sukuna is, on paper, in control of the Culling Games, it could also lead to the idea that Tengen's abilities could be bestowed upon the King of Curses. This could be similar to the way Yuji Itadori, who is Sukuna's nephew, can eat the Cursed Wombs and gain their abilities, shown in the way the protagonist has mastered Blood Manipulation because of it.

That theory also explains that Sukuna can use his Domain because of Tengen's abilities. It has also been speculated by some fans that Sukuna himself is the son of Kenjaku and Tengen, considering that the latter was a woman in her original form, but this does not add too much to this current conversation.

What could happen in the coming chapters

The next Jujutsu Kaisen chapter is likely going to show Sukuna surviving Hana's attack, although that presents a whole new context for the battle. Sukuna would now be surrounded by the likes of Yuji Itadori, Aoi Todo, and Hana herself, while there is no certainty if other characters, such as Miguel, Maki Zen'in, and even Yuta in Satoru Gojo's body can come back.

Therefore, it is fair to say that the King of Curses could have his back against the wall, although this wouldn't be the first time in this arc. There is also the fight between Kinji Hakari and Uraume, although it has been stalled for so long in the manga that it has become a running meme in the community, which might have affected its prospects from a narrative perspective.

Final thoughts

As mentioned earlier, most Jujutsu Kaisen fans agree that Sukuna is going to survive Jacob's Ladder and the question now would be how he is going to achieve that. In that regard, the idea that eating Tengen might give him further control of his Domain, even in a weakened state, would make a lot of sense.
