Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265, released on August 5, 2024, featured the domain expansion of Yuji Itadori. The domain was not something that the fandom and Ryomen Sukuna were expecting, as it only consisted of the sorcerer creating scenes from his past life while talking to the antagonist, looking for some virtue inside him.

This could be due to Itadori's forgiving personality and the prequel to an upcoming calamity that could feature the protagonist's malevolent domain. In the past, Tengen explained how sorcerers didn't resort to hurting others in their domains, which is happening inside Yuji's domain right now. However, they did force their domain rules onto the opponents as an offense.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 commenced inside Itadori's domain as the protagonist and Sukuna walked through a scene from the past of the former's life. The chapter continued with changing scenes, all from Itadori's past. The protagonist also admitted he had no idea how his domain expansion worked.

However, the chapter reached a changing point at the end when Itadori told the King of Curses to transfer his consciousness back inside him and leave Megumi's body as he had enough power to end his life. As expected, the antagonist considered this extremely rude against his pride, but unfortunately, the chapter ended without any further clarification.

Yuji's domain expansion could be non-offensive, judging by Tengen's comments regarding this cursed technique. Tengan explained in the past how sorcerers nowadays rely on sure-hit techniques inside their domain to hit their opponents.

While there is nothing wrong with such deployment, things were different in the past when sorcerers hardly had any sure-hit techniques and only relied on the condition of their domain to defeat their opponents.

A prime example was if a sorcerer expanded his domain, his domain's conditions would automatically activate. The conditions (presumedly) would be that whoever left the domain would lose, and the other person would automatically win. Such a procedure was much more efficient but took a long time, which is why sorcerers started introducing sure-hit techniques.

Currently, Yuji Itadori is not using anything but only relying on his domain's sure-hit technique, which is unknown to the fandom and Sukuna. Once Sukuna disobeyed these conditions, he would most likely lose, and the penalty could be him being extracted from Megumi's body.

Yuji Itadori and Buddha

Buddha has two famous personas in mythologies. The first one is the kind one, which is forgiving and gracious. However, the other one is the cruel one, which is famous for its cruelty and torture.

Yuji Itadori used his kind persona against Ryomen Sukuna to see if he was ashamed of his actions. Unfortunately, he didn't have anything to say regarding his sins. So, the next chapter could most likely see Itadori's cruel side, more specifically, his malevolent side.

Malevolent Shrine is the domain expansion of Ryomen Sukuna, and as he shares the same cursed technique as Itadori, the protagonist's domain could also be similar but a bit immature. So, Itadori's cruel domain expansion could be something similar to Malevolent Shrine but something more focused on the rules of the domain instead of the cursed technique.
