Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 was released recently and turned out to be a massive shock, as it was revealed that Yuta Okkotsu used Kenjaku's Cursed Technique to take over Satoru Gojo's body. This surprised a lot of people as Yuta entered the frame for a Domain Expansion with Ryomen Sukuna, but the more surprising part is going to be how he could surpass Gojo in the coming chapters.

The most recent chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen showed how there could be a lot more to Yuta's heritage, as he was originally related to Gojo because they both have the legend, Sugawara, as an ancestor. However, the former's battle with Uro in the Culling Games suggested that there was more to his origins. And if that proves to be the case, it could be a game-changer in the fight against Ryomen Sukuna.

Explaining how Yuta could be a lot stronger than Gojo in the coming Jujutsu Kaisen chapters

During the events of chapter 261, there was a flashback of Gojo and Yuta talking about their ancestors, with the latter mentioning that Uro, one of the centuries-old sorcerers he fought during the Culling Games arc, said that he was a descendant of Fujiwara. Gojo says that they are indeed distant relatives because they both descend from Sugawara, but also mentions that perhaps Uro was right and Yuta also has Fujiwara ancestry.

Not much is known about Sugawara and Fujiwara beyond the fact they were very powerful sorcerers many centuries ago, so this implies that Yuta could have the potential to be even stronger if he is a descendant of both clans. Despite being on bad terms, according to Gojo, there was perhaps a union between a Fujiwara and a Sugawara at some point and Yuta descends from that family tree.

This could mean that him having Gojo's body and the Six Eyes could also represent the possibility of unlocking his full potential. If that is the case, the fact that author Gege Akutami has added this little detail in chapter 261 could mean that it is going to be a lot more important in the near future.

What could happen in the coming chapters

It is almost certain that the coming Jujutsu Kaisen chapters are going to focus on the battle between Sukuna and Yuta in Gojo's body. Therefore, that is going to be a major aspect of the series moving forward and could define a lot of people's perceptions of how the story is going to end.

Author Gege Akutami took a huge chance by having Yuta take over Gojo's body and the coming chapters are going to be very significant to determine if it was worth the shot. Furthermore, there is also the case of Yuji Itadori, who had an "awakening" a few chapters ago, and now is seemingly in the background, which has been a running criticism against the character since the beginning.

Final thoughts

There is a chance that Yuta could be stronger than Gojo in the coming Jujutsu Kaisen chapters because of the possibility of him being related to both Fujiwara and Sugawara. That is something that Akutami has hinted at with this recent chapter and could be the key to defeating Sukuna.
