Kagurabachi chapter 34 recap

Kagurabachi chapter 34, Duty, delves into Hakuri's past and shows the events from when he was only eight. He's seen mourning the death of his grandfather, the ex-Sazanami clan head, with his father, Kyora Sazanami, and two brothers, Soya and Tenri.

Kyora Sazanami finishes his father's final rites and inherits the clan's sacred power, which passes on from one clan head to the other. He tells his children that one of them will inherit the power in his absence.

It's revealed that normally it's not possible to pass on sorcery powers. However, the Sazanami clan's strong bond, which surpasses blood relations, allows them to do otherwise. Kyora then hugs his children and assures them that their bond will never waver.

Back to the present, the chapter presents an interesting antithesis to the flashback, with Soya Sazanami vowing to kill his younger brother, Hakuri. The boy tells Chihiro to go ahead without him because he wants to take down his brother.

Hakuri's resolve surprises Chihiro, but he listens to him. Following that, the chapter switches to Shiba vs. Tenri. Having acquired powers equal to an Enchanted Blade, Tenri keeps up with Shiba's teleportation sorcery.

During the battle, Kyora Sazanami sends a few weapons through the vault's powers to Tenri, which he hurls toward Shiba. At that moment, Chihiro joins the party. He demonstrates Yui (Ice) to freeze the weapons from reaching Shiba.

Chihiro observes Tenri and asks Shiba how the boy has gotten hold of Enchanted Blade-like powers. Chihiro's mentor informs him that the boy's power skyrocketed after grabbing a stone. The Cloud-Gouger user realizes it's the Datenseki that granted Tenri the powers.

However, Chihiro knows how dangerous Datenseki can be without an Enchanted Blade to control it.

As such, he asks Hakuri's twin brother whether he knows about the side effects. Interestingly, the boy knows everything. However, he's desperate to do his duty of protecting the auction.

Chihiro realizes if it's too late for the boy, he won't hesitate to give him an honorable death. Elsewhere, Hakuri and Soya prepare for the battle. The chapter ends with the two sorcerers chanting Isou to begin their battle.

What to expect in Kagurabachi chapter 35? (speculative)

Considering how the latest chapter ended, Kagurabachi chapter 35 may highlight Hakuri's battle against his elder brother, Soya Sazanami. Having broken the shackles of uncertainty and fears, Hakuri can now demonstrate his clan's signature move, Isou.

It will be interesting to see whether he can keep up with his elder brother, who is considered the family's strongest elite guard. Meanwhile, Kagurabachi chapter 35 could continue with Chihiro & Shiba vs. Tenri.

The protagonist has made up his mind about Tenri, so he'll likely go full-throttle against him. If the mangaka decides, Kagurabachi chapter 35 could also showcase Shiba's actual powers as a sorcerer.
