Kagurabachi chapter 39 recap
The chapter, titled Surpass!, begins with Hakuri transferring the rescued prisoners from the storehouse to outside the Rakuzaichi building, where Hinao, Char, and Mr. Inazuma are stationed. Char asks Inazuma whether the boy can identify his sister among the rescued.
Following that, the chapter returns to the battlefield, where Chihiro demonstrates Kuro: Shred at Kyora, who easily blocks the slashes by creating a wall from the subspace's terrain. Kyora mocks Chihiro for prioritizing the safety of the auction merchandise, while Hakuri's condition worsens.
The chapter reveals that maintaining consciousness in the Storehouse for a prolonged period is incredibly difficult, and overdoing it can fry one's brain. Meanwhile, Kyora Sazanami's projection at the auction room rouses the crowd with an eloquent speech.
The Kamunabi members present in the crowd discuss the gravity of the event, and how it's a once-in-a-lifetime moment for two Enchanted Blades to get auctioned off. Meanwhile, Chihiro reprimands Kyora for not grieving his children's death.
However, the sorcerer reminds him that maintaining the integrity of the Rakuzaichi is the purpose of the Sazanamis. Kyora adds that he's the head of the clan, before a father to his children. Following that, the chapter showcases full-on action, with Kyora disappearing to the ground beneath Chihiro's feet.
He then manipulates the space to create a barrage of spikes to subdue Chihiro, but the latter escapes the attack with guile. Chihiro realizes that he has been running out of steam from the constant battles and the extended usage of Kuro: Shred.
Even then, he demonstrates Kuro: Shred once more to send a barrage of slashes at Kyora, who defends using a wall made from the terrain. As the wall breaks apart from the slashes, the sorcerer notices Chihiro's sword flying toward him. Kyora Sazanami deflects the sword using his own and throws a few grenades at Chihiro.
However, the Sazanami head finds Chihiro behind him. He speculates that Hakuri, with his last bit of energy, teleported the Enten user out of danger. Kyora then slashes at Chihiro but discovers that it's an image or a preview displayed by Hakuri.
The real Chihiro Rokuhira appears before him and slashes vertically on his chest. With a gaping wound, Kyora recounts Hakuri telling him in the past that he would surpass him as the Sazanami clan's leader one day. With a cry of anguish, Kyora hides him inside the ground.
Elsewhere in the auction room, the Kamunabi sorcerers discuss the possibility of the Shinuchi Enchanted Blade having so much power that even the Eternal Contract isn't enough to restrain it. The chapter ends with a panel featuring Kyora and the Shinuchi blade's box, implying he may use it against Chihiro before his certain death.
What to expect in Kagurabachi chapter 40? (speculative)
Considering how the latest chapter ended, Kagurabachi chapter 40 will likely show Kyora Sazanami unboxing the Shinuchi Enchanted Blade to demonstrate its partial powers against Chihiro Rokuhira. The latest chapter confirms that Kyora wants to complete the Rakuzaichi auction at any rate.
Being an auctioneer, the best way to sell the Shinuchi would be to demonstrate its powers to the audience. Therefore, Kyora would be looking to hit two birds with one stone in Kagurabachi chapter 40, which is showcasing the Shinuchi to the Rakuzaichi's audiences, and defeating Chihiro Rokuhira.
