Kagurabachi chapter 40 recap
Standing on the brink of death, Kyora Sazanami tries to defy his fate. He proceeds to demonstrate the powers of Shinuchi, not only to defeat Chihiro Rokuhira but showcase the item to his audience.
Chihiro Rokuhira senses danger. He uses his Enten blade to cast a Kuro on the ground, where Kyora hides. The chapter then delves into a flashback, where Shiba converses with Chihiro about Hishaku's possible motive regarding the auction.
The sorcerer thinks Hishaku might be planning to let the Kamunabi buy Shinuchi. As long as the original users of the Enchanted Blades are alive, no one can demonstrate the blade's actual powers. As such, the Hishaku may want to kill the original user of Shinuchi.
Shiba speculates that if the blade gets into the Kamunabi's hands, there will be a distraction, allowing Hishaku to kill the original users and end the blade's Life Contract. The chapter also reveals that the Kamunabi higher-ups were the ones who placed the heavy seals on Shinuchi.
As such, only they have the bio-authentication to release the seals. Interestingly, Shiba feels there's another way to open the seals, that is by analyzing the formula. Yet, he thinks that it would take seven or ten years even for an expert sorcerer.
The chapter then returns to the battlefield, where Chihiro Rokuhira stands aghast seeing Shinuchi's box empty. A panel later, the chapter switches the perspective to the Hishaku leader, conversing with another member of his organization.
It is revealed that the mysterious leader found the formula to release Shinuchi's seals in just three years. However, considering the original user is still alive, he doesn't want to demonstrate it. Instead, he wants to use Kyora as a guinea pig and see the sword's capabilities.
Meanwhile, Kyora Sazanami emerges from the ground, wielding the unsheathed Shinuchi. The original user of Shinuchi in a different location senses the blade. He chants Magatsumi (probably the original name of Shinuchi), and a pool of blood opens up under Kyora Sazanami.
Mysterious flowers bloom from the blood, inviting a butterfly. As soon as the creature touches Kyora's hands, the sorcerer's Spirit Energy manifests as a gigantic butterfly. The chapter further implies that Kyora is possessed by the original Shinuchi user.
He charges at Chihiro, who observes that Shinuchi can cut even though it's unsheathed. Apparently, Kyora cannot bring out the blade from its sheath. Meanwhile, Hakuri worries about the entire situation. The chapter ends with Hiyuki Kagari arriving at the scene.
What to expect in Kagurabachi chapter 41? (speculative)
Kagurabachi chapter 41 will likely pick up the events from the latest chapter, and showcase Kyora Sazanami's demonstration of Shinuchi's powers. Although he can only access a fraction of its powers, it's enough to send shivers down Chihiro's spine.
However, with Hiyuki Kagari at the scene, Hakuri might send her to Chihiro's aid. Therefore, fans can expect a Chihiro-Hiyuki team up against Kyora. Besides, Kagurabachi chapter 41 could also reveal more about the original Shinuchi user.
