The chapter opens with a conversation from the past between Hiyuki and Chihiro, where Hiyuki reveals that the Kamunabi haven't been able to catch the Hishaku since they are secretive about their plans. As such, Chihiro wants to break their pattern and unravel Hishaku's goals and plans.

After that, the chapter returns to the present and resumes Chihiro's battle against Hirohiko and the Datenseki users. The Enten user cloaks himself with Nishiki and prepares for the fight. Hirohiko is amused to see Chihiro finally taking it seriously.

The Hishaku sorcerer then strikes up a conversation with Chihiro and tells him that he's the same age as him. Hirohiko adds that he learned the option of killing at three but laments that he couldn't find anyone sharing the same mindset as him. However, seeing Chihiro's bloodlust, he feels they can be best friends.

Hirohiko's words infuriate the boy as he refuses to be equated with him and his vile acts. The chapter then shows Hirohiko using his sorcery powers to create a diversion and escape the scene. He wants the Datenseki users to fight Chihiro. Meanwhile, Hirohiko enters a theater and decides to enjoy his time.

Whilst in the theater, the Hishaku sorcerer thinks about the immense potential a Datenseki stone has. However, he also knows that an amateur can hardly utilize its full potential. That's why he has hand-picked the three best rogue assassins to battle Chihiro.

Even though they don't have proper coordination, Hirohiko remotely uses his Origami sorcery technique to guide them. Yet, Chihiro easily decimates them. The chapter then shows the stage play's announcer calling forth the play's villain. At that exact moment, Chihiro falls from the ceiling, along with the dead bodies of the Datenseki sorcerers.

The blood and the gore terrify the crowd as they leave the scene. Meanwhile, Hirohiko understands that he shouldn't have underestimated someone having three years of experience using an Enchanted Blade. Yet, he feels he has enough weapons to utilize as leverage.

After that, Hirohiko tells Chihiro that he appears as a monster to ordinary people. The Enten user asks the Hishaku sorcerer a rhetorical question, accusing him of turning him into such. The chapter ends with Hirohiko reminding Chihiro that only he can understand him.

Kagurabachi chapter 53 will likely continue Chihiro Rokuhira's battle against Hirohiko. The Hishaku sorcerer has started his mind games against Chihiro, trying to project him as a villain to everyone.

He wants to prove to the boy that he's not treading on the path of justice with blood on his hands. As such, it will be interesting to see whether Hirohiko breaks down Chihiro mentally. On the other hand, Kagurabachi chapter 53 could shift the focus to Samura and show his battle against the assassins.
