Kagurabachi chapter 58 was released on November 18, 2024, at 12 am JST in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #51. The chapter revealed the tragic fate of Yoji Uruha, who died at the hands of Samura, his former teacher. Samura told Uruha the reason behind his betrayal before killing him off. Hakuri, who was distraught by the whole situation, brought back Chihiro.
The previous chapter witnessed Samura obliterate the remaining Hishaku members and save the Makizumi members. Hiruhiko was slightly disappointed that he couldn't get the Tobimune Enchanted Blade. Yet, he knew his mission and the Hishaku's objective remained the same: Kill the Sword Saint and get Yura the Shinuchi Enchanted Blade.
Besides that, Hiruhiko told Chihiro that Samura had made a pact with Yura, the Hishaku's leader three years ago. The previous chapter shockingly ended with Hiruhiko wielding Kumeyuri, implying Samura killed its former wielder, Uruha.

Kagurabachi chapter 58: Samura tells Uruha why he wants to kill the Sword Bearers
Kagurabachi chapter 58, titled Reunion, begins with Chihiro Rokuhira shell-shocked to see Hiruhiko wielding the Kumeyuri Enchanted Blade. He can't comprehend Uruha's fate, who should be with Samura at the Senkutsuji temple. Following that, the narrative switches to the temple, showing the events from seven minutes ago.
After retrieving Tobimune, Hakuri lost a lot of blood. So, Uruha asks him whether he is doing well. The Makizumi girl tells Uruha that she has given the boy some first aid. However, they can't fully treat him. Therefore, she wants him to take some rest since his Storehouse power is a vital asset to the Kamunabi.
The Makizumi girl then expresses her gratitude to Hakuri, for whom she got to witness Samura in action. She also feels they needn't worry anymore, even if it takes a long time for Hakuri to recover. Since Samura has regained access to his Enchanted Blade and Hishaku's numbers have depleted, she thinks there shouldn't be anything for concern.
Meanwhile, Hakuri's eyes become heavy due to tiredness. Yet, as soon as he closes them, he notices everyone lying on the ground, with no sign of blood. Only Uruha has consciousness, who is seen having a conversation with Samura. Kagurabachi chapter 58 switches to Uruha, who asks Samura whether he has gone insane.
The blind swordsman replies he is perfectly sane. He adds that he hasn't gotten the chance to properly speak to Uruha ever since he arrived at the temple. Samura asks him whether recovering the Enchanted Blades from Hishaku will solve anything. He feels that if it were that simple, Kunishige Rokuhira wouldn't have needed to lock the Enchanted Blades away following the war.
Samura adds in Kagurabachi chapter 58 that he hasn't held the Tobimune in 18 years. If he's to wield the blade again in Kunishige's name, he has to wipe out the evil and protect the weak. Uruha says that's why they need to fight Hishaku since they killed Rokuhira.
Although Samura acknowledges Hishaku as an evil organization, he feels the Enchanted Sword bearers are far more sinister. The blind swordsman wants to punish them, even if it means colluding with the Hishaku. He reminds Uruha about an incident that they covered up.
According to Kagurabachi chapter 58, the sword bearers buried their crimes and were lauded as heroes of the society. However, Samura refuses to accept a society built on such crimes. The blind swordsman reminds Uruha that many youngsters looked up to them as heroes and sacrificed their lives in vain.
They will continue to do so as long as the so-called "heroes" are alive. Samura knows that those innocent people's deaths weigh more than the sword bearers. That's why, Samura wants to kill all five sword bearers, including himself. Unlike the Hishaku, he wants to slay the sword bearers with Tobimune and spare their protectors.
However, Uruha tells Samura that if he kills him, Hishaku will be able to use Kumeyuri. Besides, he reminds him that Hishaku killed Kunishige. Yet, Samura doesn't listen. He says he will let Hishaku use the blades briefly to kill the Sword Saint. After that, he plans on killing them. He won't let Hishaku cause harm with the Enchanted Blades, since he intends to root out evil.
Uruha wonders whether Hishaku can outdo Samura with an Enchanted Blade. He feels the chances are slim and that's why he believes him. Having said that, Uruha refuses to throw away his life since his guardians died for him.
Kagurabachi chapter 58: Samura kills Uruha, Chihiro enters the Senkutsuji temple
Meanwhile, Hakuri hears everything while lying on the ground. He laments that Uruha will be killed just because he transported the Tobimune. In the meantime, Samura challenges Uruha to a death duel. Interestingly, he picks up not Tobimune, but a regular blade.
Kagurabachi chapter 58 then shows Samura and Uruha taking their stance. Meanwhile, Hakuri feels he can still bring back Chihiro. The narrative then switches to Samura and Uruha's duel. The sword masters use their Iai White Purity Style to charge at each other.
However, Samura's blade is quicker, as it finds Uruha's flesh. Blood gushes from Uruha's chest, as he falls to the ground. Hakuri is horrified to see the scene and blames himself for Uruha's death. He thinks he must quickly bring Chihiro.
In the brink of death, Uruha asks Samura whether he intends to shoulder it all alone. The blind swordsman picks up his Tobimune and says that he doesn't want anybody else to endure this hell. As soon as he finishes his sentence, Samura slices Uruha once again, giving him a quick death.
At that same time, Hakuri uses his Storehouse power to bring back Chihiro Rokuhira. Kagurabachi chapter 58 ends with a nightmarish reunion for Chihiro, as he stands, dumbfounded to see Uruha's dead body and Samura holding the blade. Samura acknowledges Chihiro's entry and says he's drenched in the stench of blood.
Kagurabachi chapter 58 review and conclusion
Kagurabachi chapter 58 saw a massive twist in the narrative, with Samura ending Uruha's life. Uruha realized Samura's intentions to kill the Sword Bearers, who committed a grave sin eighteen years ago and hid it. Yet, he couldn't just let Samura kill him, without a fight, even though he knew he didn't stand a chance.
The final duel was painful, as Samura was struck by his own teacher, who taught him the art of the Iai sword technique. That said, the blind swordsman had his morals. He kept his ego aside and picked up a regular blade for the duel, fully putting his life on the line.
Having said that, Samura's intentions are questionable, considering he could have chosen to break the swords instead of killing the sword bearers. Perhaps, that wouldn't have solved the issue, since the Sword Bearers were "sinners" in Samura's book. It will be more clear once Hokazono reveals the truth that the sword bearers are buried.
From an artistic point of view, Kagurabachi chapter 58 was one of the best ones Takeru Hokazono has recently drawn. Lately, he has been reusing panels. Even in this chapter, some panels featuring Hakuri were quite similar, except for some minor adjustments.
That said, the double spread featuring Samura and Uruha in Kagurabachi chapter 58 was fascinating. It was almost a call back to Chihiro vs. Genichi Sojo's panel from the manga's first arc. At any rate, the chapter has cleverly set up the stage. It remains to be seen whether Samura intends to kill Chihiro too, since he wields an Enchanted Blade now.
