While Takeru Hokazono's Kagurabachi and Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia don't have much similarity, there's one aspect that unites them: the absence of one parental figure. For Chihiro Rokuhira, it's his mother, while for Izuku Midoriya aka Deku, it's his father.
A fan once asked Horikoshi in San Diego Comic-Con 2018, whether he would ever show Deku's father in the series. The author replied that he intended to reveal the man in the future. Regrettably, Horikoshi never kept his promise as My Hero Academia ended its serialization with chapter 430, without showing the mysterious man.
Likewise, a fan asked Takeru Hokazono during the Q&A at Japan Expo, whether he would reveal Chihiro's mother in Kagurabachi. The mangaka assured the fan that he would in the future. It didn't take long for the fans to recall Horikoshi's promise. As such, fans are worried about Takeru following the same route.
Takeru Hokazono might reveal Chihiro's mother in Kagurabachi, unlike Horikoshi's treatment of Deku's father in My Hero Academia
Unlike My Hero Academia, where Kohei Horikoshi didn't reveal Izuku Midoriya's father, Takeru Hokazono may take a different route, and showcase Chihiro Rokuhira's mother in Kagurabachi.
During the Japan Expo's Q&A session, Hokazono said that fans would learn more about Chihiro's mother in the main story, and he encouraged his fans to look forward to the moment.
One might argue that the same promise was made by Horikoshi at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2018, where he assured fans about revealing Deku's father, Hishashi Midoriya. So, what are the chances of Hokazono not following Horikoshi's footsteps in Kagurabachi?
The narrative for the battle shonen manga has more prospects for Chihiro's mother to actually show up in the main narrative. After the Rakuzaichi arc, the manga entered the Kamunabi arc, where Chihiro joined the Kamunabi organization to learn more about the Shinuchi Enchanted Blade and about the Enchanted Blades in general.
There's a possibility that Chihiro will learn about the things his father never told him about. As such, the arc will likely delve deep into Chihiro's past, and showcase his mother's role in his life. Many fan theories suggest that Chihiro's mother may be tied to Hishaku, which would make her a major antagonist in the future.
In chapter 15 of Kagurabachi, a flashback revealed that Chihiro was more like his mother than his father, Kunishige Rokuhira. As such, it would be nice on Hokazono's part to reveal more about the boy's mother.
Unlike My Hero Academia, where the narrative solely focuses on Izuku Midoriya and his dream of becoming a hero, Kagurabachi's narrative deals more with Chihiro Rokuhira's traumatic past.
As a result, there's more scope for Hokazono to reveal Chihiro's mother. Moreover, the mangaka paused before revealing to the audience that he intends to reveal the mysterious woman in his manga.
His response gave the impression that he would have preferred not to reveal it. Therefore, Hokazono's response strongly suggests he won't go down the My Hero Academia route.
Now, how would the series be affected if Chihiro's mother is not shown? As mentioned, My Hero Academia chiefly dealt with Midoriya's life in the U.A., and his dream of becoming a hero.
The parental figures were secondary to the main plot, especially for Deku. Horikoshi perhaps never found the right opportunity to show the boy's father. He may show him in the future via some other medium, but he couldn't do it in the manga.
However, Hokazono's narrative has plenty of scope. It should be noted that the manga has only released 44 chapters. Therefore, the series has only begun its run, with multiple aspects left to be explored. Undoubtedly, Hokazono would have enough time to unravel the intricacies and find the means of revealing the boy's mother in the future, if not in the next arc in Kagurabachi.
