Kaiju No. 8 chapter 115 began with Mina being ordered to retreat, while it was confirmed Kafka still had no vital signs. No. 9 then reminded Mina that no one has ever escaped the Meireki Era Mega Monster, including itself while adding that the Defense Force is no exception. However, she had a determined look in her eyes, which confused No. 9. Mina then began remembering how Hoshina always made up for her shortcomings and cleared her path.

She called him the strongest Vice Captain as Hoshina appeared behind the Meireki Era Mega Monster, using his Strata Strike on it. However, this didn’t defeat the monster, which prompted Mina to begin laying down covering fire. Hoshino then ordered Okonogi to move into Phase 2 of their plan while he and No. 10 had a quick pep talk with each other. Several weapons canisters with swords in them dropped down as this happened.

Hoshina launched long-range slashes at Meireki, but it seemingly wiped the attacks out of existence. Hoshino then told Mina to focus on Kafka, who responded by saying he couldn’t fight Meireki alone. This prompted Gen Narumi to start ranting on comms about how he’s the backbone of this country and doesn’t have to ask permission to join the fight. The issue ended with Narumi appearing and activating Weapons No. 1 ahead of battle.
