As the flashback explaining the origins of Kafka Hibino’s powers is set to continue in the next issue, fans are understandably desperate for Kaiju No. 8 chapter 118 spoilers. Given the confusion surrounding the finer points of these origins and how long fans have been waiting for this reveal, it makes total sense.
Unfortunately, verifiable spoilers for Kaiju No. 8 chapter 118 are unavailable as of this article’s writing, and are unlikely to be made available prior to its upcoming release. This is due to the manga’s digital publication nature via Shonen Jump+, which inherently mitigates a spoiler process’ creation to the point of being a near-impossibility.
However, Kaiju No. 8 chapter 118’s major events and focuses can likely be predicted with significant accuracy given current events, even without the help of spoilers. This includes explaining how the Flying Larva went unnoticed by the Meireki Era Mega Monster, was able to survive to the modern day, and how and why it chose Kafka specifically.
Kaiju No. 8 chapter 118 will likely explain why the Flying Larva chose Kafka specifically to be its host
Following the very stylistic showcasing of the Flying Larva’s origins in the previous issue, Kaiju No. 8 chapter 118 should explain how it practically and physically came into being. Likewise, fans can expect the issue to open up on the aftermath of the battlefield seen in chapter 117, showing the Flying Larva rising up from the mountain of human corpses. The Flying Larva may even get some introspective dialogue here, further explaining what it is and how it came to be.
This should then transition into a focus on the Flying Larva’s life throughout the centuries of its existence. More specifically, its avoidance of the Meireki Era Mega Monster (Meireki for short) and other Kaiju, as well as other humans, will be the main focus. However, it’s likely that the Flying Larva will run into the former group at some point. This is supported by the fact that No. 9, who is Meireki’s current host, seemingly recognized and knew of Kafka’s powers.
More likely than not, the Flying Larva will first be approached by Meireki and others with an offer of cooperation due to their believing it to be a Kaiju. This should also provide some background on the Flying Larva’s physical composition, which will likely be an amalgamation of the parasites used by humans referenced in chapter 117. However, given that the Flying Larva is also the collective consciousness of the humans who died, its hatred for Kaiju will likely show here.
This should prompt Meireki and the others to try and attack it to collect its power for themselves, recognizing the strength it possesses despite its seemingly weak origins. This should prompt the Flying Larva to decide to go into hiding until it’s able to find a compatible and worthy host. Kaiju No. 8 chapter 118 should then jump ahead in time to the near-present, where the Flying Larva will likely stumble upon Kafka Hibino as a child and take an interest in him.
More likely than not, this will be just before Kafka and Mina Ashiro’s hometown was destroyed by Kaiju. The Flying Larva will likely decide on Kafka as its host before going into hiding for a couple decades to further hone its power or prepare for their merging into one being. The issue will likely then end with the scene shown in chapter 1, thus explaining why the Flying Larva first said it had found Kafka in the premiere.
