Kaiju No. 8 chapter 119 recap
Kaiju No. 8 chapter 119 began with the oni-mask warrior growing concerned if Kafka can bear the weight of his allies’ and his collective grudge against Meireki. However, Kafka happily said he’d shoulder their burden as the focus shifted back to reality.
Here, Mina Ashiro thought she saw Kafka’s body twitch, but he still had no vitals. However, she was confident he was still alive and fighting due to still being in his kaiju form, rather than changing back into a human state.
Focus then shifted to Soshiro Hoshina and Gen Narumi’s fight against Meireki, with each of them imminently reaching overheat status. Hoshina mused how difficult it is to dodge Meireki’s attacks, pointing out that Narumi’s Numbers Weapon No. 1 was the key to this fight.
Narumi mused how difficult it is to adjust to the multiple futures unfolding before him, eventually realizing that this was due to the countless Kaiju contained within Meireki.
Narumi and Hoshina then rushed at Meireki together, but overheated shortly thereafter. However, Narumi forced No. 1 to activate again, despite the risks, accepting his fate was to sacrifice himself here for the next generation as Isao Shinomiya did before him.
Unfortunately, Narumi was seemingly mortally wounded by Meireki shortly thereafter. The issue ended with Kafka’s return to the battlefield, saving Narumi from a killing blow at the last moment.
What to expect from Kaiju No. 8 chapter 120 (speculative)
Kaiju No. 8 chapter 120 should begin with Kafka getting an update on the statuses of Hoshina and Narumi, which should in turn confirm Narumi’s status. Neither of the two will likely be able to fight any longer, with Kafka instead asking Mina to fight alongside him. This should prompt an ordinance drop to come down, giving her some relatively effective weapon to use.
Chapter 120 should also give an update on the rest of the larger battlefield, specifically as it relates to Reno Ichikawa’s status, considering how helpful he could be here. The issue will likely end by teasing Reno’s eventual arrival, but confirming Kafka and Mina will need to hold out on their own for a bit as Meireki rushes at the pair.
