Boruto has always had the promise that the protagonist is going to have a confrontation with Kawaki, as shown at the beginning of the manga, and is seen wielding a Jougan in his right eye. While this moment already confirms that will happen at some point in the series, there is an argument to be made that Kashin Koji has been holding Naruto's son back from reaching said achievement.
It was confirmed in recent chapters of the Boruto Two Blue Vortex manga that Kashin Koji has an ability named Ten Directions, meaning he can access different possible futures. However, the visions shown in the manga didn't feature the protagonist with the manga, suggesting that Jiraiya's clone might be connected to the disconnection between his visions and the series' prologue.

Kashin Koji might be hiding the Jougan information from Boruto
The ability of the Ten Directions allows Kashin Koji to have access to multiple different timelines, thus giving him the possibility to alter present events for a better outcome. However, his visions don't show him as the protagonist using the Jougan. The Jougan was teased in the manga's prologue but has yet to reappear, aside from some alterations in the Studio Pierrot anime adaptation.
A valid reason for this is that Kashin Koji can only see timelines until the moment he dies, so perhaps the moment when the protagonist activates the Jougan against Kawaki is after the clone's passing. There is even an argument to be made that Kashin Koji's death could be the trigger for the activation, in a way serving a similar role to Jiraiya since they both have access to a prophecy of sorts.
It is also likely that Kashin Koji knows about the Jougan situation and knows it is better not to tell his protege about it. If he tells him, perhaps that could affect the path he needs to take to develop this ability, especially considering that, as of this writing. In that case, Naruto's son is scared of using Karma because Momoshiki could take over his body again, and it doesn't fit with the vision of the prologue.
More details about this theory
There is also the possibility that Kashin Koji has seen Boruto unlocking the Jougan but doesn't know how that will happen and doesn't want to influence events. Moreover, author Masashi Kishimoto could be attempting to play a degree of dramatic irony by having this character's death as the catalyst.
It is also worth mentioning that, before the time skips, Kashin Koji told the protagonist that he would take six years to master the Flying Raijin technique. Unless there is another time-kip, this would suggest that he can see beyond his lifetime, although there is the possibility that he lives more or less depending on the timeline.
Final thoughts
Boruto using the Jougan has been teased from the very beginning of the manga and fans want to see how that event is going to play out. However, the introduction of Kashin Koji's Ten Directions ability has presented a lot of questions, which could be Kishimoto's intention to trick fans.
