Boruto fans have a lot of expectations for the coming chapters and arcs of the series. One of the most prominent is the moment that Kawaki gets the power-up he deserves to challenge the strongest characters in the series. That seems to be the path that he is going to take after chapter 17 of Two Blue Vortex when it was shown that Amado has been limiting his potential.
It was shown in the most recent chapter that Boruto tells Kawaki how Amado has been limiting his powers so he doesn't go out of control. This angered Kawaki, and he went to Amado's office for some answers and to get his boost in power. This could be the deciding factor for the story to reach the encounter he has with the protagonist in the time-skip shown at the beginning of the manga.

Explaining why Amado is the key for Kawaki to get a power-up in Boruto
Chapter 17 of the manga had the protagonist talking with Kawaki about how Amado has been reducing his power. Kawaki then decides to go to Amado's office and demands he unlock his full potential, which can have a lot of ramifications for the plot. The first one is that he is going to become strong enough to be a challenge for Naruto's son and the Shinju clone.
Moreover, it was stated in the past that Kawaki is "an apostle of destruction", which fits with the manga's time-skip where the two are fighting in the ruins of the Hidden Leaf Village. All of this could be set with this conversation and makes sense that Amado would want to put limiters on him since perhaps it wasn't the time for him to unleash his full potential.
This is coupled with the fact that there are some theories that Isshiki could come back into Kawaki's body since he has a part of him within himself. This draws a parallel between him and Boruto, who is dealing with Momoshiki as well. That would make sense and also make the moment of Code telling Kawaki that he is always going to fight as someone else's puppet serve as foreshadowing.
More about this theory
The idea of Isshiki taking over Kawaki's body could be an interesting twist since it would mean that he is the one facing off Boruto in the epilogue. Granted, that is merely a theory and is very likely not true since Kawaki being the one responsible for the destruction of the Hidden Leaf Village makes sense with the latter's arc in the series.
If Kawaki gets the power-up and is the one responsible for the destruction of the village, Amado unlocking his potential would make sense for him to be a major threat. It was already proven in the manga that Kawaki is a lot better at handling Karma than the protagonist, which means that he could probably be stronger if given a power-up.
Final thoughts
Everything seems set in Boruto for Kawaki to get a power-up and Amado is going to be the one responsible for that. It makes sense when considering their history together and would set up Kawaki as the big threat that he was made out to be at the beginning of the manga.
