With the release of My Hero Academia chapter 425, the manga series hinted at the next story arc the manga will focus on, i.e., the fate of Toya Todoroki. After the battle between Shoto Todoroki and Dabi, fans believed that the villain had perished and had no way to return.

However, that was not the case as Dabi never passed away and was seemingly in some form of life support to sustain his life. The latest manga chapter hinted at the same through an illustration of Endeavor as he looked forward toward a machine that was occupied by someone, presumably his oldest son, Toya Todoroki.

With such a development, there is a chance that Dabi could return to the series. However, fans strongly protested it as they believed the possibility was too cruel.

My Hero Academia: Why Dabi forcefully being kept alive is too cruel?

With Dabi's appearance in My Hero Academia chapter 425, fans believed that there was a chance that manga creator Kohei Horikoshi could keep Dabi forcefully alive because the family would want it.

However, they believed that such a narrative would be a mistake as Dabi had already gone through a lot. During his fight against Shoto Todoroki, the villain had essentially lost brain functions and had begun freezing inside out. Thus, it seemed very evident that the eldest Todoroki sibling was soon set to die.

This was also evident from the narrative in chapter 425 as it seemed like Shoto Todoroki was going to the hospital to join his family in bidding farewell to his older brother. With the events having gone so far south, if Dabi were to somehow survive through the narrative, the story arc would fail miserably.

How fans reacted to the possibility of Dabi surviving

Fans collectively believed that Dabi passing away would be the perfect end to his character arc. He had gone through a lot, hence keeping him alive for his family's sake seemed like bad writing. One fan even stated that his character and backstory were much better than that of his family, thus them wanting him to stay alive should not be a priority.

"Dabi literally needs to rest bc like? Keeping him alive only for the sake of his fam and their writing is bad writing for his character," one fan said.

Another fan speculated what Kohei Horikoshi had planned for his readers. The fan speculated that the reason he took a two-week break from the manga was so that the fans could prepare themselves for a heartbreak, i.e., Dabi's possible death.

Fans wished that the Todoroki family be able to bid farewell to Toya before he passes away in peace.

"Hori-sensei giving readers two whole weeks just to prepare for the heartbreak," another fan said.
"I really Hope the Family can say goodbye and He can finally die in peace," another said.
"We have no idea of toga's fate," other fan said.

Amidst this, some fans were much more concerned about Himiko Toga's fate. She was last seen helping Ochako Uraraka survive her injuries. Since then, her status has been unknown. Hopefully, the manga will shortly put an end to her story arc as well.
