Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 13 spoilers were released on August 16, 2024, and Kishimoto ignited the Sumire vs Sarada war after a very long time. The possibility of infinite outcomes was indicated after the confirmation of multiverses which made both of the girls the possible saviors of the protagonists through their acts.

Sarada's Mangekyou Sharingan awakening avoided a future where Boruto could have died. Moreover, Sumire's involvement could have also prevented the death of the protagonist, triggering the war of whether she or Sarada was the reason behind the survival of Boruto.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 13 revealed the jutsu technique of Kashin Koji which awakened when he was nearing his death after his match against Isshiki Otsutsuki. His jutsu technique was titled the 'Ten Directions' and it predicted different timelines of a single situation, giving him the ability to choose the one that is the safest.

Moreover, the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 13 also showcased Kashin's ability when he told the future that was possible from the recent events and also told about the timelines that were prevented due to some specific actions. One such key timeline was the prevention of the death of Boruto in which both Sarada and Sumire were involved.

Before the activation of Omnipotence, while Kawaki and Boruto were fighting, the former could have died at the hands of the latter. However, Sarada's Mangekyou Sharingan awakening changed the timeline to a point where Boruto lived but as an outsider.

After Kawaki sealed Naruto and Hinata inside a time-space, Boruto rushed towards him. However, Kawaki attacked him out of nowhere and wanted to kill him because the protagonist had Momoshiki inside him.

After Sarada heard about this scenario, she wanted to save Boruto but Sumire tried to stop her. The few seconds Sumire delayed Sarada's departure was enough to change the future. If she hadn't, both Sarada and Boruto could have died while in reality, the protagonist only lost one eye.

Reactions from the fandom on Sumire vs Sarada

The majority of the fandom was partial towards Sumire being the real savior of Boruto. After all, she prevented the death of Sarada who would later become the device for the protagonist's survival, and branded her Mangekyou Sharingan awakening as something that does not make much sense because she couldn't use it to change the timeline further in the future.

On the other hand, a part of the fandom was partial towards Sarada and didn't want to start the topic of whether the Uchiha girl or Sumire was responsible for the survival of Boruto because Eida was the one who told Sumire about Boruto's current situation.

"Her Mangekyou doesn’t make sense bro" a fan said.
"Sumire told Sarada to save Boruto in sec photo You all hating a good character" another fan claimed.
"Pls don't start this" another fan said.
"It's eida who told everything to sarada" another one claimed.

Final thoughts

Even though the official chapter isn't out yet, set to be released on August 21, 2024, the multiverse of madness has already begun in the fandom. Where the output of both the characters could be considered optimal for the survival of the protagonist, each of them is subject to their own opinion because these scenarios existed in a specific timeline.
